  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED camera controlled wireless recording w/Teradek

hasnt michael cioni been doing this for about 6 months with fincher? i am certain i saw a demo at least two months ago.

glad it is avail for the masses.....

SDI - HDMI model doesn't currently work with the RED's HDMI - you want the 120 model

Thanks Mark,

that is what I'll order then ;)

producer can watch live recording on laptop - iPad uses HTTP protocol - so - delay to iPad live is really bad - that's a protocol issue. Best to use laptop for live monitor and iPad for playback - IMO.

Then I guess the best bet is to buy an 11" Mac Book Air ;)

C'mon Dino - you know the drill - guys like Ciono & I have to respect NDAs - and sometimes stuff is ready for a demo but not ready for "prime time", etc. etc.

Eh? Who do you think helped make this viable?

:thumbup1: I love it when RED plays well with others, and we all benefit tremendously as a result.

I guess my point was this - This Teradeck setup is already doing a lot of what I hoped the RED h.264 module would do, so aside from making it a neat consolidated module that doesn't need any cables, if RED can push the whole concept even further and improve on this, then our future is looking very bright indeed.

There was someone doing this at the original Red Day for the MX sensor in January. I forget who, but it was near Cioni's setup.

It's been my experience that RED creates a product when they think one has not been done with a good features vs price factor.

It's entirely possible that they may look at this cube and say "well hell, this thing works just fine, and it's a good price... We don't need to build one". So they help the cube customize for the RED ONE a little, and problem solved!

I've seen them do this a couple times.

What's the situation with the Teradek's H264 streaming over Airserver correctly as Apple TV? I know that H264 direct from Redcine X doesn't work without buffering/reencode as you need to create the H264 direct from an Apple app.....

Thanks

Does anyone else think Teradeck will be implemented into Epic?
Maybe a Teradeck-like module?

You mean like this??? ;)

The guys at Teradek are very cool. I had been in talks with them earlier this year to beta their units back in May, but logistics on both ends got in the way. Needless to say, I'm very jealous.

We intended to use the Cube with our camera/DIT truck for recording, and "near-realtime" streaming, and then having the scripty, director and producers having access via ipads and iphone 4s, so they could either see a 1-2 second delayed live feed, or go back and review any footage on the fly that they needed, without stopping or interfering with the camera.

It's a really cool tool, and I'm hoping to have the opportunity again to try one out. With any luck, sooner than later!
