Does anyone know if the new RED Bomb EVF will work effectively with the current Element Technica EVF mount?

I know that there are plans to have the hybrid base plates Epic/Scarlet compatible, but the EVF mount seems like it could require an awkward modification. Perhaps an L-bracket.

Any thoughts?

I think this unit will require a complete redesign on ET's part due to the massive difference in weight and size of the Bomb, not to mention the difference in design on the EPIC / SCARLET side.

The form factors will be so small, the EVF mount as it is today may really over-power the EPIC..

Now, there's another question: How do we make the ET EVF mount for the 1st GEN EVF on the epic / scarlet for those that do not upgrade to the Bomb right away

I'm sure it would work just fine with a simple adapter piece. Something as simple as a simple as a 90° angle bracket. The Bomb attaches via its bottom, so just have to translate that to the side mounting if the EVF mount.

That said, the Bomb EVF is so much smaller, I'm not sure I'd want to use it with the current ET EVF mount. I'm sure it will include a mounting solution of some sort. Anyway, I hope we can order one soon -- I kinda needs me a new EVF.

I own the ET EVF (GREAT must-buy) and I think the only part that needs to be re-done is the piece that bolts to the current evf. They can just make an L bracket of sorts that makes that little dovetail come out of the BOMB at a 90 degree and we'd be there.

When I look at early renders, like this one below, it seems clear that the duck's foot might be able to be removed from the Bomb EVF. This would allow it to be mounted on something like an Element Technica V-lock plate.

If that is the case, I could see a modification possibly working with the current EVF mount. Since the Epic has 19mm rods top and bottom, the current ET EVF mount would seem to be installable.

Surely, several of you on here have had a chance to hold the working prototypes in your hands.

Another question: Since it can utilize the Element Technica hybrid bridge plate, do you all think that the E.T. Mantis will have 100% compatibility with Epic/Scarlet? Do you see any possible issues?

BTW, Jay ... I finally made it through your RED 101 DVD. You really did a nice job on it. Thank God for the pause button when you get deep into the menus. After watching the "Hybrid" section, I think that Steve Gibby should have his own action figure.

I'm sure ET will make an inexpensive adapter for the new EVF. I'm also willing to bet/hoping that they'll make a smaller/lighter EVF mount for the new EVF as well!
