I am fairly new with the RED Dragon systems and my company just purchased two RED Dragons a few months ago.
While one close to permanently installed into a Shotover, we really only have the need for one monitor right now.

Issue#1: Our monitor seems to not want to react to touch about 50% of the time it's in use. Any ideas why the screen is not reacting?
Issue#2: Our monitor once in a while will split from the right upper corner down to the lower left corner and makes it extremely difficult to do anything. It almost looks as if it is mirroring the image from on side to the other. Extremely distracting.

Any insight to these issues and a possible fix would be extremely helpful. Thank You.

One general thing I have on all my touch screens that cause this issue is when I have the top fan blowing hot air across it. The default way most people mount touch screens is right above the top fan, if you have to put it there angle the screen a bit away from the hot air. What I normally do is reverse the direction of the mount so the mount angle leans toward the lens rather then the top of the fan.

Hello, I have the same problem with the monitor. The screen is divided diagonally into two parts. I tried to rearrange it in different places and in different ways to mount, but the problem remains. Sometimes it works without problems, sometimes climbs again this problem. What do I do not know. Firmware is the last one, I think that it is the cause of this problem.
Just after updating the camera does not see the lens aperture, the value is highlighted in yellow, but to change it, I can not. The menu does not see the camera lens mount at all.

I am having the same problem. My brand new 7" touch screen does not respond to touch. I've had it for 2 days . . . Can anyone help? Thanks!

I've returned my 7" for repair twice in 12 months.I was getting colour issues & also intermittently it wouldn't respond to touch too...seems to be okay now but yeah they're a bit hit n miss unfortunately as this has happened on rented ones as well as mine.
My 9" has been a ROCK! but when hand held the lighter weight of the 7" means the 9" is on B camera ha ha...return them to Pinewood, worked for me.

Good luck, Stu.

My 1 day old 7 inch touch has the diagnal problem as well.. Unusable, will contact Red and let you know how I go

Got into the same boat with you guys.

A month old 7 inch touch. Been working flawlessly until a couple of weeks back - one day we're shooting and everything's cool, come to the hotel, not disassembling the camera, so the rig stays connected, monitor on a noga arm, lemo cable inserted. A night passes. The next morning we turn on the camera - touch sensor is dead, not responding to anything, the actual monitoring was without problems though.

I love the 7 inch but RED should really step their game up with this thing, my 5 inch was bulletproof for more than 3 years. This one costs $3K and breaks after a month of use. It just makes me sad.

Please guys, look into it.

I had that diagonal line problem until the very latest firmware update (6.0.37). Since then I haven't seen it. It could be a coincidence since it is intermittent even when it happens. I also moved away from the top fans. So far so good.

Ditto. Also having problems with the 7". Stopped responding to touch. Sent it in. Fixed. Then they sent it back and now I'm getting this fairly often:

I've sent mine back twice now.. Very disappointed with Red about this monitor.. Problems from day one, won't give me a refund either.... I have these tiny little white horizontal lines which I'm starting to think are part of all 7 inches (look closer when shooting in bright conditions)... I'd be very careful buying a 7 inch guys

Yeah, those tiny little white lines are quite annoying. Red's support answer to me was that they could see the same on their displays too and it appears to be normal. I like the monitor in many ways but this lines and the screen bleeding that it suffers from are quite disappointing, specially for such a high price.

John, may I ask when did you send yours to be fixed and when did you get it back?

The monitor was turned in September 21th, 2015 and I got it back November 11th, 2015. So 8 weeks and 2 days total time that my basically brand new RED was totally out of commission. I received an email during this time that said:

We wanted to reach out and notify you that the evaluation of your RED Touch 7.0" LCD 730102B7358E under SOr-060618 has been subject to a slightly extended processing time due to supplementary testing being conducted. Rest assured that our service team is rapidly moving as efficiently as possible. We are working with our service team to provide you with our current turnaround time estimate and we will follow up with you as soon as more information becomes available.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your continued patience and support.

They did not charge me for the repair. No explanation was given as to why it was broke or what they did to fix it. Several of my DP friends were like, "I told you to buy an Alexa Mini. You should have listened."

*sigh*

I have the same problem as I can solve?

Have you tried the latest Beta release in camera?

Thank you very much

Were these issues resolved with updated firmware? I'm looking into buying a cabled/DSMC 1.0 version of the 7" touch.

Also, are the cableless and cabled versions the exact same, or is RED using slightly newer bits and pieces for the cableless version? The original 7" Touch came out in Oct 2014 or so, that's why I ask.
