Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)
this freaken job is like a jeep safari, we had a 7 am call time and we have already literally gone almost completely around the island...in 8 hours and shot over 200 gigs.
we have 4 minivans, 2 jeeps (one is a picture car) about 7 personal vehicles (local crew) and a 7 ton truck, caravanning around the island, it reminds me of the scene from swingers...but we have already seen the natural bridge, the caves, we are at the marina now and we started at baby's beach...so soaking it all in, ...oh and it is 100% humidity and 100 degrees and it rains off and on (which is supposedly "never" rains in aruba....except the day the 2 camera red crew is shooting a commercial for the Island).....go figure.
here are some pics of my minivan workstation...complete with rachet strapped in folding table, 2 x 2tb graid and a mac pro and of course a 24" dell for some light grading and show off to clients and agency...most important though is the AC blasting which does not show up in pictures, but trust me it is " freakin awesome" as we say in my hometown of manchester, NH.
eight core and rocket with the other 3 monitors are back in the hotel...love these travel jobs, no sleep for us, while everyone else goes out and has a good ole time...oh well...least i'm here.
Hey nice channel at youtube .. amazing videos .. I am going to watch all of them .. good luck for Aruba shooting .. looking forward to watch it at the youtube channel soon !!
Dino, what a gig. I've been to Aruba a few times. The first was when I was 17. I fell asleep on Eagle Beach and woke up with a nice sunburn, but it was well worth it because sitting a few feet away from me were two European girls who were enjoying the beach "European style". Highlight of the trip for me.
The famous natural bridge is no longer there right? Didn't it collapse?
Have fun! There's some great restaurants down there. And some wild bus tours.
here are some more shots from today....we went up in a helicopter and hosed down the whole island. local fixer jonathan (he never shot or touched a red before today) shot everything for insurance reasons...he did great.
