Has anyone had any experience with their generation 2 metal housing, specifically with the sigma 18-35mm?
I am for sure, unless anything better comes along, buying a sigma 18-35mm for the raven, seems like the best option for a wide angle zoom.
I WAS going to go for the GL optics conversion, but learned that even if they do an EF mount, all the electronics are stripped out, so no communicating with the camera at all, which i think is the huge benefit of raven and fool control. so i cam to the conclusion that id probably just add a gear and some step up rings for filtration. then came across the cinematics conversion again, which just houses on top of the existing lens. it gives you a focus gear with a much longer throw as well at least makes it look like a cinema lens, but the benfit is it still communicates with the brain of the camera.

anyone try the new metal housings yet? anyone have experience from a reliable vender, is the ebay seller direct from cinematics or a third party?
any help is greatly appreciated. thank you!

I looked at this, but my main issue is that you are still working without hard stops on focus, so the markings mean nothing for an AC. If you intend to use foolcontrol anyway, it seems like a waste and unnecessarily makes the lens heavier.

For me, since I wanted an 80mm front, I opted for the cheapest option by adding a focus gear ring and a step up adapter myself.

yeah, i might just go that way, it would be nice to have a nice traditional follow focus situation too though. plus with most follow focuses you have hard stops on them.
also, when an ac is on my L series lens, to get back to his marks(that we chart) you just rack passed infinity until your mark is back at infinity, then rack back and it should all match up, until you change focal length :(

which gets me to this lens:

anyone ever try this tokina cinema 50-135??? its parafocal and seems like a nice price for lens data as well as manual control. i wonder how it looks.
