Hi
Im looking at buying a complete RED ONE system and have been getting mixed feedback from people in australia in what to buy.

IE Carbon fibre rails etc.

Could someone give me some advice on what to purchase from the RED website to get a good working kit with viewfinder and LCD screen, Rails, handle bars (for off shoulder stuff). How many memory cards should I buy and is it worth buying the RED hard drive. And what sort of tripod plate do I need to buy or does the camera come with one? I only need HDSDI out and a composite out would be great also, and do I need anything special for my sound recordist to plug and SQN into the unit?

I currently own a Sony PDW700 and PDW800 so I have heaps of croziel matt box bits for both 4x4 and 4x5.6, along with focus wheel.

I would also like to get some advice on should I buy a full set of RED PRIMES inc the 18mm or are the 2 RED zoom lenses good enough for general TVC production.

Thanks in advance

Forgo the base production pack and get Element Technica 19 or 15mm baseplate instead. The Red base is wobbly and not intended for real production.

Check the rental houses in your area for their rail standard and USE THAT. It may mean not using any Red rail stuff but you will have more options where you live and shoot. That's my only advice.

There are lots of great options for baseplates/rails. I've used our Cinevate 15mm rods system many times, with ZERO problems. It's fast and light and sturdy - along with way cheap.

As beginner you should know you'll need some media, an LCD and some batteries. The rest is up to you.

Tripod 'sticks' depend on your personal preference. Use the plate that came with the sticks as RED doesn't 'ship' with one.. The O'connor 1030HD is FANTASTIC with a ful package RED.
The RED cannot do composite out per-say. (At least not possible through RED). You need a DIN connector to SDI for HDSDI (included i believe, but get EXTRAS as they break quite easily) Or a RedByte downconverter for SD goodness.
You need a Mini-XLR adapter for Audio in.

At lease TWO red bricks (or any other battery option). And i know of many Owners who go with CF cards, but keep in mind a 16GB card is only 8 minutes in 4K. I advise at lease 4-6 Cards, or a drive.

Hope that helps?
