Recommendations on wireless lav mic set

Uhhh, that's a matter of opinion. I have Lectros and Audio Ltds. Side by side, switching back and forth I and other sounds guys using my setup prefer the Audio Ltds over the Lectros. If you talk to the guys at Vark Audio (who happen to be the US rep for Audio Ltd, they will tell you that the RF shielding on the Audio Ltds is superior, far superior, to the Lectros. I do like the additional info that you get on the Lectro display and their scanning capability, but in the end, that's icing on the cake. Sound quality is what really counts. Its a matter of opinion, but I prefer the Audio Ltds.

We have just replaced our Audio 2020 with Audio 2040's on the new band 38, we could have purchased virtually any make and model we wanted but on Audio quality then Audio wins hands down. The RF side of things is very solid and Audio Ltd and know for their RF engineering. We often run in excess of 12 units on location with multiple separate recordists sharing the same transmitter source.

Audio's EN2 system is also good if your on a budget, also the DX2 makes for a good stereo link to camera. My only issue is Id prefer it if it has better multi pin interface with the camera.

Quality mics hold their value including radio mics, Id avoid the cheaper ones.

DPA lav mics are far and away the best you can get, also in different colors and they are small. You can configure them to any wireless pack.

+1 for DPA lavs. Sonically they match really well with a CMIT5u, are small enough to hide well, and you can buy nice concealers for them.

Down side is the price, of course.

G2/3 are perfectly fine for interviews and hops, but I would steer clear for anything other than that. The Tx don't have enough reach for in my experience. Go Lectro SMQv for film shoots. The packs are tiny and built like tanks, plus they put out up to 3x the signal strength compared to Sennheiser. Receivers also have two whips for less chance of a dropout.

Take good care of your kit and you can resell it at a decent price.

Doug: I am curious as to which DPA lavs you find are a good match. 4060, 4061, 4070, 4071, etc....? Also, its my understanding that the 60 series are good for plant mics and the 70 series are good for placement on the body. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks
