  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I've been shooting R3D only on my Weapon. I know that it can shoot both but I haven't messed with the ProRes side. In the past what I've done is to do some basic color correction in RedCine X to create the RMD files, then bring the R3D files into FCP X and use the "create proxy" feature and "view proxy" function to get cutting done. Needless to say the "create proxy" process takes quite a while. I am wondering if I can do better by using the simultaneous recording of ProRes and R3D feature. If I have a pile of ProRes files and R3D that are named similarly, is there some simple way that if I cut with the ProRes files I can "export the cuts" or "link in the R3D files" or something like that to get the final result from the original files?

Why not just work with .r3d native?

Does FCPx force a proxy workflow?
