  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Recap January 22, 2011...

Man oh man its tough on the soul to wait, next time I recommend red not say anything until its all ready to ship. OK maybe do some marketing I few months before scheduled release. lord knows the red can sell its self now.

According to a post in Shot ON red. The movie The Avengers is meant to be shooting 3d Epics. Imdb has the epic listed as the camera being used and the budget at $150,000,000. Could be the huge budget un named film from the first post.

Not accurate info...

Jim

As The Avengers are indeed shooting 3d,not converting to in post,i don't think they will shoot on 35mm for a movie requiring special effects this big involving many superheroes like iron man, hulk, thor, captain america etc,so that leaves them with two options arri alexa or red epic,as another marvel movie the amazing spider-man is being shot on red epic chosen over alexa,i think they will most likely choose epic. Jim is saying its not accurate info maybe because its not confirmed yet by the studios as they are still testing, lets wait and watch as i already said "only time will tell"..............................

I had heard The Avengers was vending thru Panavision. Does that mean Panavision has EPIC-M's now?
Even if Avengers isn't shooting EPIC they must've tested it against other options no?

Jason

Yes, Panavision has Epic-M's

How many Epic-M's dose Panavision have?

It's Alexa RAW to codex, single camera.

its sad,its finally confirmed The avengers are shooting on Arri Alexa raw to codex,i would have loved to see it being shot on red epic in 3d, jim we really need to hear some new announcements of big budgetted studio movies being shot on red epic, Jack the giant killer was the last announcement ,dying to know about those three unnamed biggies you mention in your first post of this thread............

how's so? Don't take this the wrong way, but other things in life are "sad". This is not one of them, IMHO.
There are good reasons to shoot on Red, good reasons to shoot on Alexa, good reasons to shoot on - insert name of camera here - , and even good reasons to shoot on film.
Thank goodness we have more than one camera/system/format to choose from.

No, we don't. Really.
Personally (and with no disrespect for big hollywood features whatsoever) I'm more interested in what David Mullen will do with the epic on the low-budget, 2D, "Big Sur" movie....but hey, that's just me....
