  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

That is the first official update regarding actual Raven since the "March Update" (03/10), as Jarred didn't mention Raven in his "April Update" (03/26).
Hopefully things will start moving next week...

Switching my order to go through Samy's here in LA, they said I would get it sooner than directly from RED. Anyone else switching to a camera dealer?
 
I have an order in with Omega Broadcast in Texas. Keeping my Red pre order as well but Omega tells me they can deliver sooner.
I'm a Raven to Scarlet W switcher .
 
Don't really know if this is an update for some or not, but I called RED today and they basically told me it's impossible to know when the bulk of Raven orders will be going out, they've only allocated a few so far and they don't look ahead in the que so there's no way to tell how many there actually are that need to go out and how fast they will be getting them out of production - too many factors involved for anyone to have a real answer. transferring to a dealer seems pointless unless they were ahead of your time stamp and ordered more then they've sold, its my understanding that dealers don't skip the line. When I asked for a ballpark, ( i.e. 2 months or 6 months) he said they'd know a bit more by the end of this month/early next month but it may very well be somewhere in that area for those of us who weren't smart enough to jump in line in September/October.

He wouldn't go so far as to say it would be a six month wait, it was more of a "prepare for the worst" type of thing. They just genuinely don't know how long it will take because of the production hurdles and the intensive nature of the builds, plus the amount of cameras they need to ship out is insane. It just bothers me that dealers are garaunteeing quicker deliveries and there's all of these estimates floating around from dealers who want to make sales and misinforming buyers who are in turn spreading that information here...The actual truth is if RED doesn't know how can anyone else really know?
 
Hmmm well if you look at when the S-W started allocating (February 18) to when the mass allocations started happening (this week-April 11), you can kind of get an idea when you'll get your camera. Of course that isn't an official way to look at it (or even a good way). Last I read, S-W allocations are in November but no Raven packages sent out yet. Accessories not looking too good for us Raven guys, lol. I still have hope though =)

i feel like they can be as honest as they can be, though sometimes vague, but when we get a clarification im sure they arent trying to be deliberately wrong but they sometimes are. the big case for me was being told clearly that raven pkgs will be being allocated simultaneously with scarlet-w pkgs by time stamp. maybe they wanted this to be true but it was not at all true. exactly what brent said was the example if 10x sets of accessories were available, then 5x scarlet-w pkgs will be sent out and 5x raven pkgs will be sent out. i dont think it was a deliberate false statement but it wound up not being the case as no raven packages have been sent out and now a lot of scarlet-w pkgs have. i now wish we were just told they were doing all these scarlets first and ravens later because i wouldnt of been getting my hopes up every morning.
 
I was at red headquarters picking up another brain from service and had a chat with my rep about the Raven orders and even internally people are fustrated. But my rep made it clear that he dosnt know any more than he's telling me on ship dates for orders which stinks. Having to turn away work because I have no even month to month idea when my brain will ready for pick up is hurting.
