Raven control with BMD Video Assist, Jetpack & Foolcontrol ?

Ok, so it seems my budget is tighter then I thought....so my cheapest affordable option is below

Raven Brain
redmag and reader
jetpack with battery belt

Since I already have vlock batteries, I will use these with the belt. I already have the BMD Video Assist monitor so....can I control the cameras settings with the 'fool control' app and view what Im shooting with
the BMD video assist, get away with that until I can afford a RED monitor?

I would strongly recommend either a LCD Touch or some changeable control like the SIDEKICK or upcoming SIDE HANDLE.

While you can do everything with FoolControl, the issue here is you navigate to the menus to even enable WiFi. I'm sure somebody will make a custom boot preset to enable WiFi on boot, but if you are going to shoot anything you'll want a way to poke at your camera that's a bit more 1:1.

If you are using the In Camera Focus Tools, yes. I'm really, really picky and like the 7" though for general use. On nasty big things we use a big honking monitor.

Thanks Phil! I'm definitely keeping my eye out for getting the 7 inch monitor. I'm new to the Red eco system, so I'm definitely gonna lean on some of your expertise in the coming months. Just got your DSMC Field Ops Guide, so hopefully some of those concepts will carry over to the Raven.

For a cheap full hd monitoring I would also test the Blackmagic EVF modded by Wooden Camera.
