Our Raptor is having a strange issue. When using SDI 1 into a Vaxis 500 Storm it cuts out every few seconds. The strange this is, it doesn't cut out when going straight to a monitor. The wireless feed is also totally solid coming from SDI 2. I've trouble shot every aspect of the chain, cable, power, and tried SDI output frequency of 23.98, 29.97, and 59.94, all have the same problem. It's not a huge issue as we can just use SDI 2 for wireless feed, but I wonder why this is happening only on SDI 1. Anyone got any ideas?

Sort of almost a comic tragedy as I just had my number 1 SDI go bad a second time almost exactly to the year... We or I for the last year has been fallowing the RED monitor/SDI plugin monitor protocol instructions exactly every time and still this happened today.
I don't understand why there isn't some circuit in the SDI line or on the board that supports it to prevent these issues with it getting damaged so easily under what all would consider normal productions work flow..
I mean really you need to be so particular when powering up and plugging in your monitor in to the SDI port that any variation would blow it up. Whats the difference between REDS SDI port and all the other camera companies that use SDI ports that don't blow up as frequently???

To maybe answer your question about why the number 1 port is struggling to produce a consistent image out put.. Maybe someone else can comment but I thought I read that the number 1 SDI port is actually pulled from the number 2 SDI and that might explain why its not able to support both at the same time if there is a issue with that circuit that breaks out the number 1 from number 2...

RED hides the exact number of cameras repaired the SDI under warranty.
It seems to me that 30 percent of all Raptors (and Komodo, too) were repaired under warranty
This is cost of progress - from 3G (unkillable) to 12G (will die if a fairy flies nearby) :courage:
But now we can see the 4K stream from SDI ( but we're still dumb and use HD monitors on set ) :sifone:

I mainly monitor in 4K w/ a few special instances where HD is necessary (helicopter and other work). Been shooting since day 1 on Raptor. No SDI replacement or issues. Mainly using hard line or Teradek Bolk 4K.

Using the ports on damn near every shoot as well.

Just wondering if any one has used these Galvonic Isolators SDI cables being sold by BH and Amazon and a bunch of others.
Seems like at the very least it will or might reduce the possibility of blowing up your SDI.
wondering if anyone has any real data on these or a review or has put one on a Volt meter and actually seen what the current or reduction is or across the cable between the ends.
