  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

R3d into Shake

If I get this right, you can wrap the R3D into a quicktime film (during import into FCP) so you can "natively" work with R3D in FCP (max resolution is 2k however). Would it not be possible to wrap the R3D into a 4k quicktime and then be able to work with "native" R3D in Shake? Is there any software that can do this?

thanks

To be able to use Shake would be incredible, I've done the >DPX>Shake>Output thing, but native would be a big thing. :w00t:

And, no, I don't have $4500 for Nuke, sorry...

It is technically possible, but the L&T plug-in tags the files as reduced-resolution so FCP can handle them. The reference movies (as generated by the camera or RCX) would be the way to bring full-resolution R3D files into Shake, but as mentioned above, they're currently coming in as 8-bit.

Whenever I talk to people about Shake and they tell me I should just use Nuke, I have to remind them that I paid $500 for Shake. Nuke is like 10x that much!!!

I'd like to be able to just go ahead use Nuke but it's way too expensive for me.
