  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

R.I.P Tony Scott

Same here. Just turned on the computer and BAM ! What a fucking SAD news. The best always leave too soon. We will all miss Mister Tony Scott, who has done SO much, like his brother, for the cinema industry. To me, he has shown through all his movies a new way of filming, a new way of making art and share emotions. One of the greatest director for sure. He will be hardly missed.
My support goes to his brother and family.
Rest In Peace.

sad indeed. entertained millions.. in the end could not be entertained by life .
there is something wrong with the world , it cannot be fixed by money , bombs , governments ...
only by people who listen and share

If he was in full control of his faculties and chose this path, I respect his decision.

What a sad day,
a great director death folded him, but not his film legacy.
R.I.P

In the " favorite movie " thread from last year, I listed " True Romance" as my number one.. and it is still my favorite movie of all time...
Agreed, The combo of Tony Scott, Tarantino and Roger Avary is unmatched. Add in the references to Badlands/Malick and Music by Hans Zimmer and you have a masterpiece of modern action/referential cinema.

Something from that film is quoted daily in my house somewhere.

Sad day indeed.

A remarkable man and creative spirit. "True Romance" is my favorite movie, hands down. Tony was my favorite director. "Top Gun", "The Last Boy Scout", "Days of Thunder", "Crimson Tide" were all huge influences on me. He will be dearly missed. I wish his family all the love and support in the world. Tragic. Rest in Peace.

Ouch. Very sad news to wake to. Best wishes to his family. So sorry for you.

Very sad news. I just can't imagine what drove him to this. RIP Tony!

For anyone else who ponders the same question, he was terminally ill with inoperable brain cancer, and chose to end his life on his own terms instead of wasting away.

This breaks my heart. This man directed the film that I have seen more times than any other film. Top Gun is one of the first films that I remember seeing as a kid and I instantly fell in love with it. At this point, I have probably seen it over 30 times. I dressed up as Maverick for Holloween one year, bomber jacket, white tee, jeans and aviators, the whole deal. In college, we had Top Gun quote-alongs and You've Lost That Lovin Feeling and Danger Zone were always my choices for karaoke night.

I have no shame in saying that Top Gun is in my top five films of all time.

Some of my favorites include True Romance (another Tony Scott masterpiece), Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Man on Fire and Unstoppable.

I don't think Tony knew how many people truly adored his movies. He was very very talented and he had a great sense of style and he knew how to dial up the excitement to 11. We are going to miss you Tony. We have lost and industry icon and a wonderful person. Everyone who ever worked with him had nothing but positive things to say about him.

A very sad day for our industry. I hope the Academy gives him a fitting tribute next February. RIP Tony.
