Great quote, I really like Soderbergh and I'm just dreaming about others "big indie" directors as Spike Jonze or Michel Gondry... I want my cameras and I want to go to see their REDmovies!

My favorite Soderburg pic is the little known "Limey". I don't think he shot it but it's one of the most striking visual/editorial style combinations I've ever seen.

The Limey is a fantastic movie! It really is a masterful example of direction and editing. Also, the DVD has one of the best commentaries ever!

kudos to RED for placing cameras in good hands. directors like jackson and soderbergh are well-known names, but they also take artistic risks and make a lot of unconventional stories. good fit for RED.

"This is the camera I've been waiting for my whole career: jaw-dropping imagery recorded onboard a camera light enough to hold with one hand. I don't know how Jim and the RED team did it--and they won't tell me--but I know this: RED is going to change everything." Steven Soderbergh

Congratulations on receiving such good feedback from Soderbergh!

Ya know, it's great to hear someone of his stature agree with what we've been saying around here for months. hah!

The limey is still my favorite as well.

This a great quote!

Is it from a larger article??? No, I see it's a direct quote.

I'm also curious if any of the Beta tester filmmakers will be using RED lenses?
Other RED accessories?

BTW... this weekend we had a HD conference in spain, and came Rick McCallum (producer of star wars) and David Stump. A journalist from the HD magazine asked "what is a best investment now, a RED or a film camera". Can you imagine the answer? ;)

BTW... Soderbergh movie is going to be shoot in my country! Jim, and the whole RED crew, if you came to spain and want to take a beer and spanish ham, just let me know!

So was McCallum well aware of the RED?

Does Lucas know much about it, I wonder?

well done jim keep perservering...

How is Soderbergh going to make a movie about Che that is better than Walter Salles' Motorcycle Diaries? O. K., Soderbergh will shoot with Red.
The Cubans here in Miami aren't going to be happy about another movie about Che. Prepare for the backlash.

I wouldn't say they are out to make something better than Motorcycle Diaries, just different.

Motorcycle Diaries was based on the journals of Che Guevara. It's the story of his coming of age when he and his best friend cross South America together (of course by Motorcycle). We see him at an earlier carefree time, and then follow the journey to see how the two friends paths diverge as he finds purpose. It takes place in the early 50's.

From what I've learned of the Soderbergh scripts, one takes place in 1956, and shows how Guevara builds and army (led by Fidel Castro and other exiles) to oust the Batista regime. The other, supposedly takes place years later, and tells the story of Guevara traveling to New York to speak to the United Nations.

I anticipate Sodergbergh's style to fit well with this type of story... we'll see.

I do highly recommend the Motorcycle Diaries. A very interesting story with outstanding directing, acting, and stunning cinematography.
