And how appropriate is it that the "Red" camera will be the one used to shoot two movies about Che Guevara? "The Argentine" and "Guerrilla"?

This is great news, I am late here but this is confirmed? As we have Cuba RED feature screenplay in development...this is quite inspirational.

Best of Luck Steven S. ;)

Jim can reconfirm here if he wants but that is what he emailed out to the CML list anyway.

If announcements are tentative, we always say so. This one comes directly from Steven Soderbergh.

LOL - Sex, Lies and REd Drives - I can't wait for the sequel now that Paris is out of jail. Now if Finner could direct...

and David Hasselhoff the star on the re-bound with a similar Hollywood alcohol free temptress.... Paris... Ohhh.... is it really... 90210 - The RED HOT Movie - in 2008 - can't wait!!! (hack hack hack....bad dream... sorry) ;-)

We seriously need some NEW HUMOR AND NEWS HERE....

True, true, third man.

P.S.: I love this forum. The fun get's never lost here.
That's the last thing I'm going to say for now.

Steven shot test footage in tough lighting conditions as well as lit charts. He ran the footage through his "machine", then projected 2K Apple Pro-res and 4K, as well as a filmout to a 55' screen. He was pretty happy it seems.

Jim

Thanks for the details, Jim. Soderbergh's quote means a lot more in this context (not that I wouldn't expect him to test it, but it's good to know).

Something I saw on Red's site about Soderbergh's involvement that I don't think has been brought up on this thread is that he will also be using the 18-55mm zoom and other not stated accessories too! (If this was brought up and I missed then my bad!)

"The RED 18-55mm T3 (f2.8) CF lens and many RED accessories were also chosen by Soderbergh for these movies. Shooting begins in Spain July 24th"

Let's hope Soderbergh doesn't do a "Full Frontal home video look" with RED footage. :)

Now, this is what I'd love to see... When any of the trailers of a pure red feature is ready, lets have another screening: trailers, scenes and test footage--4K Digital side by side with 4K film out. Any nay-sayers will be forever silenced.

I now know the source of our California heat wave--it's coming the Red bunker.

He should redo Star Wars 1-3 with better actors, a better script and better director! :calm:

He had 20 years to improve on the writing and build a killer story for Star Wars 1-3.... Did it happen? Nope.

"This is the camera I've been waiting for my whole career: jaw-dropping imagery recorded onboard a camera light enough to hold with one hand.

That's a juicy arrow in the PR quiver. But in truth, I'm curious about the real specifics of what he's got in mind. Soderbergh's clearly excited about having a tool that opens up undiscovered territory to him, but I can't believe that it's just the one-hand/jaw dropper part, since the Arri 2c, Eclair Cameflex, Konvas, Aaton 35-III, Arri 235, and now the Penelope can all fulfill that function.

Was there any more to that quote that might illuminate this?

cheers,
Christian

I totally agree. what a waste.
IMHO, none of them come close to the first Star Wars.

Script was better. Good characters (Han Solo) and less focus on special effects.
