  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Prometheus...

The trailer's up on the Apple trailers site in HD. Looks fantastic! I'm so excited...

...Just watched the trailer in HD ... Holy f***ing sh*t !!!!... If I was Jim or ANYONE from RED, I wouldn't know how to contain myself :D It looks absolutely freakin' AMAZING!!!!!!!

A sincere 'congratulations' to everyone at RED! :)

Im telling you... it just keeps getting better... and better.. and better :)

Ahhh, the clarity, the crispness, the natural sharpness, the resolution.....and the horror of anything else that does not look like this....Holy mother of the Gods! and that's why there are directors like Riddley who are known as visualists, but he never was more so of it than when he got his hands on the Epic. If this doesn't make all those pundits take notice or quiver in their pants, then nothing else will and they should continue to live in the bliss of 1080p ignorance...Now, that's a trailer full of awesome imagery!

Holy... that movie looks so good!

YES!!!!!!!
I want to spend all day analyzing every frame of this thing!

Fantastic looking trailer.

Im telling you... it just keeps getting better... and better.. and better :)

Congrats Red folks, 2012 will definitely be your year, I can feel it.

Hell yeah. This trailer is bad to the bone. Looks like we might finally get a serious sci-fi film for adults.

As I told you guys in my first tread it's PROMETHEUS!!!

Blade Runner is probably my favorite movie of all time. Alien for me is like Star Wars is for others. Prometheus cannot get into the theaters fast enough.

Ive been waiting on Riddly Scot's return to SF since forever.
Can't wait to see this!

Whoa, what an amazing trailer. Got the heart going thump (repeat rapidly).

Hard to deny now that this isn't a prequel to Alien.

:34 seconds in - Space Jockey Helmet from Alien
:44 seconds in - Space Jockey Seat from Alien
:54 seconds in - The crashing "derelict ship"

And to top it all off, it looks simply beautiful.

Kudos.

IMO - This film will not have "Aliens" in it as we know them, but instead it will have their predecessors. When those predecessors incubate inside the "Giant Space Jockey" race, then this is how they become the Aliens that we know. My reason for hypothesizing this is...

Remember the last shot in Alien vs. Predator? An Alien had gestated inside a Predator, and the result was an Alien with a Predator mouth etc. Aliens take on features of their hosts.

It's quite obvious it's a prequel. And if you look closer you will see the actual "space jockey" on the right side of the frame when the famous seat is being elevated. I put my dime on one of the crew members turning into the space jockey. The mythos of prometheus is that he stole the fire/thunder from the gods and was punished by Zeus to have his liver eaten out by an eagle every day, just for it to grow back again over night. Remember the space jockey? He had probably suffered a chest burster. The image of the space jockey is such a symbolic image of prometheus in the mythology.

So my theory is that the research team find something that connect to humanity's origin, a power, a biological compound or genetic substance that contaminate one of the crew members (stealing the fire) and he then, like prometheus is punished in the way of the chest burster. In a last insight of what has happened and what has been set free, he sends out the warning signal that the crew interpret in the first Alien film.

Throughout the trailer we see someone in pain, someone with genetically deformed shapes, but still in company suits. The ship is named prometheus, they steal the fire, and one gets punished as the symbolic image of the space jockey (who probably is one of the crew members deformed into that being). That would tie perfectly to the Alien series. The rest of the team speaks of their find, the "company" realize the interest in this "being" and sends an android (Ian Holm) to go with a mining ship to investigate (and because it's a mining ship, they might be contaminated without having the firepower to destroy the being.
This team doesn't have time to research the being, that's why Ian Holm doesn't have all the information and continues to do research on the Nostromo.

Remember the mythology of Prometheus, it will have a strong connection to the story in this movie and don't be surprised if it's similar to what I described :)

I find it interesting that there is so much CG vs Set discussion going on in this thread because today our subject of discussion was on how people still hold up Aliens as an example of the power of miniatures... but that Prometheuses' CG ships are so phenomenal that they're almost like the counter point to the miniature work in Ridley Scott's previous work.

Also I wonder how much of this set was practical. :)

I'm a huge LOTR geek and kind of 'meh' on Aliens... but man, this trailer tickles my movie geek bone like no other in recent memory.

congrats

congrats

OK... here we go. Ridley Scott. Prometheus. EPIC 3D. Trailer due out this week. Incredible.

We began this journey to build cameras to change the world. I can't think of a better payoff for our efforts than to have Ridley shoot and release this movie.

Ridley is one of my all time favorites. Blade Runner is my favorite movie. Alien is all world. To have Prometheus "Shot on RED" is such an honor.

Watch.

Jim

Congrats...Great work...Ridley Scott another epic redhead...Go Red Team...
