FYI... I had my first EXTERIOR shoot on Friday with the SC.4.1 profile (credit to Miguel) with some pretty good results.
It was a cloudless, sunny, early winter day here in West Australia (love the light this time of year) and I was filming a series of roving vox pops with Aboriginal people. The only ND I had was a 6 which i used for most of the unshaded exterior shots.
I did stuff up the first few shots as I used the ND with both myself and the subjects under some shade. Im really paranoid about over exposure (bad habit from video) which is something I need to address with this camera as the shadow noise can be brutal.
The second half of the day we shot interviews under a patio. I ended up ditching the profile and used the default 320 ISO without a filter. Once again some really nice results using only available lighting EXCEPT I was riding the exposure as the clouds kicked in and flucutated the light. I wont do that again! If I had a colourist he would linch me but in my case its me so I will do the suffering in post.
A few days later I ran some tests outside without the profile. I feel at this early stage im better off running default profile until i learn and undertsand the parameters of the camera. I bascially kept it simple, used my light meter and recorded my fstops for each shot for reference. I also just used the raw histogram. I found myself setting about a stop under the light meter and achieved some good results.
