I always rename my mov, mp4 and canon raw files, but I do not touch the Red files, however I would like to since I Think the default names are not very helpful.
Now, does anyone know where they store the name in their data structure?
- I know we have the folder name
- We have the R3D files which are named the same but with a 00n in the end
- We also have the RMD file which has an idential name of the clip, but I dont see any name stored inside the RMD data structure.
So from my point of view it looks as if you rename these files to the same name then you should be fine.
And yes I know of dangers of renaming files, but you could test the whole pipeline to make sure its safe.
It would not be overly hard for me to write a tool that renames all the files so the folder, rmd and red files are identically named.
Cheers
