  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi,

I have some problems with the RedTrip Python Workflow to convert the FCP XML to Redcine XML.

I hope someone could help me.

I have installed python 2.5.2 for mac on my Leopard then i have downloaded the newest redtrip 0.6.0.
I have generated my FCP XML and now i have no idea what i should do.
What shoud i do with the RedTripDroplet Step 1 and 2? And if a make a double click on this scripts he said "It´s for the classic environment".

When i double click the RedTrip.pyc it opens a windows with Python Shell and a second window for the RedTrip.pyc. But now i can´t drag and drop the FCP xml into the shell.
Nothing happens.

And if a open the Terminal i can drag and drop my FCP xml in but he said Syntax error.

It would be very nice if someone could write down a step by step!

I'm pretty clueless about all this, but I just did a successful test. Edited the camera-generated 1k proxies in Final Cut off a firewire drive. Exported XML and followed the RedTrip notes - dropped the xml onto the droplet. Got that into RedCine and exported the trimmed selections as DPX. Sweet!

I haven't gone back to Final Cut because this is all greenscreen and I think we'll be sort of manually conforming in After Effects with all the comp work and effects.

But even just this workflow - editing the proxies and just exporting the selections to DPX is huge.

hi,

that´s my problem i have this four files on my desktop the RedTrip.pyc, RedTripDroplet Step 1, RedTripDroplet Step 2 and my FCP XML.

I tried to drag and drop the XML on the RedTripDroplet Step 1 but nothing happend.

The system is Leopard maybe thats the problem i don´t know.

Hmm. I'm on Leopard too. I had to download and install python first. There's a link to it from the RedTrip page. Maybe that's it?
 
As i said before i have installed the latest Python 2.5.2 ! And this works so Python ist not the problem.

Has anybody an idea what´s the problem ?

nothing happen at all.

Once again.

I had downloaded the RedTrip .60 from your homepage.
I have extract the three files (RedTrip.pyc, RedTripDroplet Step 1 and 2) to the desktop. I allready tested it when i renemaed the RedTrip.pyc to RedTrip.py it´s the same.

The Icons of the files RedTripDroplet Step 1 and 2 are crossed out as you can see in the attachment. If a double click them Leopard says they only work in the classic environment.

Then i installed Python 2.5.2.

Then i made my FCP XML as descriped in your wiki blog . )I´m using the Apple XML Interchange-Format, Version 4 for Export.

And at this point I´m getting confused:)

I´m starting the Python 2.5.2 IDLE (Python shell window open).

Then I wanted to drag an drop the FCP XML on the RedTripDroplet Step 1 on the desktop but nothing happen.

I put the RedTripDroplet Step 1 into the Python shell, into the Apple script, into the Terminal but nothing happen.
i wanted to put the FCP XML into the Python shell but nothing happend.

I tested everything to plugin in everywhere :)

I hope you say to me there ist a mistake in my workflow :)

always get this when dropping an xml onto redtrip (6.1)

Any solution out there?
 
Sorry for the late answer but i had installed Apple Script from beginning. So thats not the problem i think!
