  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I lost the most important person in my life this past weekend, my life partner of 12 years. It wasn't a complete surprise-- she had been battling cancer and Lyme disease for far too long. She was always incredibly supportive of my Red camera ventures, and happy for me as I eagerly plucked down my Epic deposit. She was the first subject I shot with my Red back in February 2008, and I was looking forward to doing the same in 5K. But in this devastating time of loss, what's truly important in life becomes so very clear. Pictures may be worth a thousand words, but nothing compares to the love shared by two people and the time spent nurturing its growth. I will miss her more than I can now bear. Rest in peace, Jana.

I know I speak for all of us Dan when I say how truly sorry I am for your loss. Supposedly it is better to have loved and lost than to have never have loved at all but I often wonder...I can think of nothing more painful or difficult then what you are going through now. Be strong and may God grant Jana a peaceful rest and you a little joy in the midst of this storm.

so so sorry Dan.... sure sounds like she was an incredible person. I just can't imagine what I'd do if I were in your shoes. If you ever need to talk feel free to reach out, even if it's just to pass the time and talk about photography.

I'm a mess of tears reading the memorial site.
 
I'm so sorry. But it sounds like you had many years of true love. I have no idea what you must be going through but I think it's OK to be angry and sad and even bitter when you've lost someone you love as long as you are grateful for the time you had. And it's clear you are.
 
Truly sorry for your loss, but happy that you had and acknowledged a great love in your life. I lot my dearest friend and love almost 9 months ago, as I documented here, and give you my sincerest condolences in a truly hard time that is just beginning.

Remember the good and lovely things she brought to your life and focus as much as possible on those.

So sorry to hear this - I hope it makes everyone take pause and appreciate there loved ones who are luckily still here... I donated to one of the charities listed on the memorial site - I hope tons of others do as well... Very beautiful of her to try to redirect her energy to something good for the planet...

Dan thank you for putting things back into perspective.
Ive lost my loving aunt and television mentor to cancer so its very touching to hear this.

I appreciate it.
And look forward to going home to my loved ones even more than before.

I have spent the last thirty minutes attempting to compose something that could console or advise you. I just deleted all three paragraphs. It dosen't matter what I say, only that I say something. The words of a stranger can be strangely comforting. They can remind us that we are never alone.
