Sony employees- 160,000
RED full time employees- 14

well, they do have many departments...

-so that still leaves you 14 to probably three figure squad...

and...aaa...I believe there was a recent "mistake" mentioned :meh:

You are one hell of a guy, Jim, it aint even funny.

Cool!
He looks good, very good indeed. :-)

Here's him again (in this third page):

Zak Snyder's already got "14" in preproductionI believe - (below) before the Sony hordes descended. "Madness? This. Is. RED!!"

JimJannardium removes a spear from the fallen JarredLandium. Note the film's camera themed art direction at the head of the staff.

I'm sorry cinematography.com boards guys (I know you read these lines and you've been missing my posts -- actually, I still just don't remember my password :)) but I like this guy, beyond the Forbes ranking and his airplane or airplanes.

EDIT -- Business aside, REDuser.net is a friendly community for distinctive RED friends -- that's all!

Don't worry, once you start shipping cameras I am sure RED owners will develop into an unstoppable sales force.

Ah, c’mon, there ya go reducing prices when us RED One adopters are already having a hard time convincing the rest of the production world that a camera so modestly priced can possibly really deliver what it's specs claim....

Dang it, in an industry where everyone loves bragging to their friends and business associates about what they paid for stuff, moves like price reductions are seriously raining on our credibility parade!

Oh well, the price to performance ratio just changed. Boy, am I going to catch flak for having a camera that is supposed to do all that, but now costs less. Everyone knows that in this industry "You don't get what you pay for!" How am I going to explain that I'm getting a lot more than I'm paying for?!

This has really put me in a bind...:cold:

I believe all this point on subject is not more than the versatility of the RED user. In my country, we say they are more than the mothers. LOL As matter of fact, there are different worlds outside and inside. Even I, all my work is not based on just one environment. For instance, for education or production purposes the things can change. Regarding the production field, there are several distinctive levels of moviemaking, art and business. That's why the issue hasn't the same value for everybody.

Emanuel,

I think something got lost in the translation...my post was satire/humor!

One thing to keep in mind...

The Japanese Army- 180,000
Sony employees- 160,000
RED full time employees- 14

We are doing the best we can... :-)

Jim

So you have spilled the beans then!!!!!

I just knew you had too many staff, how else could you get all this done is such a short period of time:whistling:

Mike the beginner

Oh no!

Oh no!

You know how much this is gonna cost to have to re-visit my budget. You already posted the battery price, you can't just not honor it. Is this legal? :clown2:

Ironic - America was the leader in cars for so long
and then those imports from Japan starting coming in,
cheap cars not so great but the oil problems of the 70's
gave them the in. And then came the parade of other
Jananese products - now Chinese. - Is RED the redemption
of American innovation?
Maybe that is the pricing structure?
Buy the best video camera made in America
for the price of a 1990's Toyota?
Instead of buying a Japanese camera for the
price of a Rolls Royce?

Hey, Jim, or anyone else at RED, what about the LCD cables? The cables that were listed as being included in the price of the LCD are now missing from that list. Is/was that a pricing mistake also, or is a mistake now that they are absent? Do we have to pay the extra $200 or $300 bucks to be able to connect the LCD to camera? I posted this in it's own thread, but I thought I'd ask here since it's on the topic of pricing errors.

LCD cable

LCD cable

The LCD (just like the EVF) does come with an integrated digital signal, power and control interface cable, just not the 3 ft or 10 ft length cables which are options. You do not have to pay extra to use the LCD (or the EVF) with the camera.

Umm - I believe what I said above stands, but let me check and get back to you guys.

That'd be good to get some updated info on.

The two cables seemed like the perfct jib/steadycam partners + the problemsolvers for the "What do I do when my cables break?" situation that will eventually occur...

Appreciated!
