  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

preview - Sanctuary

As to "is this really RED"

It is all R1 M, the lighting consists of 2 fresnells and 3 parcans. The lenses are mostly Zeiss Standards (14, 16, 25 35 85 135 mixed set with a 65 super thrown in).

As for post treatment. 2k redlog DPX in Color, with emphasis on the RED channel for most of the images. (grade was done before RLF/Resolve was an option)

But we had the idea of using the kit we had and adjust to that, instead of shooting for stuff where we would need other equipment and manpower than what we had access to... Which was basically me/Tuva, couple of lights, an SM57 mostly taped to the cam and a cool location...

I had a quite distinct idea as to how I wanted this to look, though...

Last bump, and I'll take it offline tomorrow.

Thanks a lot for all your replies!!!

How many views did you get on the video?

Great work, Gunleik. I really enjoyed this and always appreciate open-ended interpretive writing. The images were great, too. Very nice.

It's a beautiful aesthetic, Gunleik. Thanks for sharing. Best of luck with your distribution.

Nice work !
It has a Bergman / Lynch texture to it.

Thanks guys!

really appreachiate all the feedback.

I take the link offline, now, but PM me if you wanna see it.

A note (more commenting on non-public responses I have had)

The idea comes from Tuva, and the script was developed by three girls and me.

It's by far a a girlie story, as far as I am aware, and if anything, I have been a moderating force as to the images we did.

Just wanted to mention it. Not as an excuse. I am superhappy (even more now), but as a comment to some preconceptions of how this came t be I have encountered.

Cheers

Shot on R1 M, mostly with a old set of standards, 14-135mm

As the location was a bit into the woods, and the "crew" was mostly Tuva and me, lights are scarse.

We wanted to a b&w high contrast thingy from getgo, and often with one point of lights only.
And if we hadn't wanted to do exactly that, we'd been in trouble...

Shot mostly to redraid, but there are some scenes that were shot to cf.

The location is a 150 years old building that more or less has stayed exactly the same the last 100 years. A family "sanctuary" that has become more of an untouchable museum than the lovely place with a couple of 100meters beachline close to town, that it also could be seen as...

Production was basically done on vision, and not so much on any mentionable practical means.

It will be distributed as a short before the main feature in Norway, and has so far been accepted by the festivals its sent to. But the main festival hunt starts now...

Will update the facebookpage with more info and images and a trailer over november.

Rather weird on the story aspect, but very well lit and a wonderful aesthetic to the images.
