  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

President Obama

no it was shot with a 5d.

JUST KIDDING.

i imagine they do give greater bandwith to subjects/contributors that they deem more important. i think same thing happens on DTV and digital cable

Could be. Also doesn't pan, etc. Maybe that helps? Or maybe they've figured out YouTube's HD?

There's gotta be some kinda trick when compressing for Youtube that makes the optimal picture with their transcoding engine. That said, it wouldn't surprise me that certain sponsored videos get a premium data rate.

Might be shot with NOTEBOOK ONE, the official presidential Notebook with a 2k webcam ;)
I like the idea that your president has his own bandwidth in Youtube :)

Too bad they didn't deinterlace...

I wonder if we Americans will get such an endearing message come Christmas time.

It probably is the lack of panning, though if you have been following the Weekly addresses the lighting seems to have improved a lot since when they first started.

Yeah that bugs me, you notice is big time when you watch the live stuff such as the press briefings.

Well, with Safari in OSX it's really easy to download youtube videos. So I downloaded the Obama clip and another hd clip (Some war footage from Afghanistan, shot on Red actually). Then I compared the two with movie inspector in Quicktime.

The Red clip is 6:23 long, 9.64mb and a bitrate of 211.08 Kbit/s
The Obama clip is 2:36 long, 39.12MB and a bitrate of 2093.18 Kbit/s

So clearly you can get some kind of premium upload on Youtube as long as you've got the dough.

This may explain why he gets special bandwidth consideration, look at the MBP:

Well, that pretty much settles it.

Thanks for checking that out.

I wonder if the white House has a provision to use Youtube as an "emergency broadcast syste
