  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I may be wrong, but I believe Jim said first availability goes to current RED One owners.

Don't hold me (or Jim) to that tho, cuz I might be mistaken.
 
Interesting...some people scream "awesome" and "fantastic" even when something bad / unpleasent seems be ahead.

Looks like Mr. Jannard is preparing us for price changes and fps restrictions. But let`s wait and better restrain praises until that moment...

when the 3k for 3k scarlet was initially announced i was ecstatic. it was all i ever wanted out of a camera.

the more recent announcement, while nothing short of revolutionary for the industry as a whole, put a big question mark over the reality of 3k for 3k and what that might include. in effect the announcement was a step backward for those who would not be able to spend anymore then $3,000.

so i have to admit i am once again very excited about this new announcement because i love to see the advancements you guys are making and i love to dream about owning an epic someday, but please, please, please, if at all possible could you give us something at least as specific as the original 3k for 3k specs that were given? (maybe lens info, price, viewfinder, audio, etc.).

the Original fixed lens plan was truly awesome. I was fixated on that for months. I think it's great what RED have done, I'm eventually looking at an epic or a 617 (if we manage to make some money) but the first and most realistic and flexible plan for li'l broke me was the fixed lens 3K.

Since I already own a couple of c-mounts, the 2500 scarlet brain didn't look too bad either.

There's a bunch of us down in the scarlet 3k for 3k area, and whereas its the smallest in the line, it opens up so many doors.

My hunch is that this has more to do with offering a reasonably priced DSLR, which would have lower frame rates for higher resolutions, rather than lowering frame rates on current offerings. So adding something new, instead of taking away.

That's just what I was thinking.

I'm also interested in the TBA price for the fixed lens Scarlet, although I don't know if that's coming yet.

For sure. About options, I hope your Dec. 3rd announcement may prove it. I wouldn't be sincere if I'd say I am too much confident with this «Prepare yourself» thread. I hope my deepest fears may be 51% wrong, at least.
 
Paying more for higher framerates is cool with me, as long as
I dont have to rob a bank.

A FF 6K Monstro with 180 fps at 4 K would be killer.
That would be the sweet spot.

I'm looking forward to the new announcements.

Tell me the two you want and I'll tell you the one you won't get.

Yes, it's good news. You can build a system around your cheap Scarlet and hire in the expensive high frame rate Epic when you need it. The rest of the time you can shoot at will.

Or... You could head on over to Sony, Panasonic et al, reverse the above equation and then you can have it all. Smaller, slower, more expensive. All yours.
 
I don't think anybody has suggested this but I'll take a punt here - another camera body? A unique high-speed 4K (1000fps) Digital Cinema camera?
 
It is not possible to say word without being throwed to Sony, Panasonic etc

I just want the same specs for the same price as it was announced two weeks ago. Period.
 
The amount of panic that goes on in this forum is off the charts. You'd think people were being hijacked by Somali pirates.
 
I don't agree with you. It's not panic. It's fair concern. I don't think we can safely celebrate the most recent news.
