  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Premiere EXPORT looks NOTHING like the grade/timeline preview

OK. So after playing around with a few things, I decided to Try Alex's suggestion and try MPC-HC to watch the videos...

Now it's REALLY getting strange:

- ALL of the videos I have previously exported look FINE (with the correct grade) in MPC-HC.
- BUT I have tried ALL of those exports to Vimeo/Youtube and NONE of them look like the PR/SG preview or MPC-HC.

I truly don't understand what is going on at this point....

Your workflow is just fine for export, what's happening is a bug in some flash players and chrome in windows that raises the black levels. Try the Nvidia Fix I listed above in the screenshot to work around it.

File a bug report with the browser maker too.

Also try Internet Explorer. Their TV-->PC level conversion is correct.

VLC doesn't do it at all unless you enable it.

Quicktime Player doesn't do it at all. Period.

Nothing helps better to find the cause of a problem than good 'ol colour bars. Your workflow is fine, but to trace to source of the issue, place some bars on the same sequence of your same project and export in the same ways as before. Be sure to check the levels in the waveform and vectorscope before and after export. You'll then be able to see exactly where the issue gets introduced and by how much.

Read through this thread, made my own, tried and tried... no, the things people speak of here is not changing any issues. I've graded something in Resolve, edited in Premiere and when round tripping back to Premiere it looks exactly the same in Premiere, but whenever I export to anything other than high quality outputs I get flat and boring results. Doesn't matter what I do, I cannot deliver anything to clients that looks anything near the grade I made in Resolve.

If Adobe and/or people can't see that this is an issue it will continue to be like it is. It's not about computer gammas and such settings, it's pure Adobe. This is the single thing that makes me keep from using Premiere. I cannot get a final result out of Premiere that looks like it's supposed to.
