  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Pre-production EPIC-Ms...

Dear Custommer,

Please locate the power button on your Epic, press it once and continue using your camera to your enjoyment.

As to your truck, please send your it to our Bomb Squad for evaluation and we will see if we can fix it or if it is a complete write-off. :smilielol5:

Good one, Pawel.

Everyone who has emailed Kelly up until about 2pm PT today has been blasted their "we confirm your interest in EPIC-M" email. As she continues to get emails, we will do subsequent confirmation blasts. Reminder, this email merely confirms that we have noted your interest. It does not mean you are assured of getting an EPIC-M :)

I got it as well :-)
Just curious, is there a cut-off date for expressing interest for an Epic-M?
Seeing as it's now December and I'd love to be able to put an Epic-M through every trial I can come up with...

I usually say that customer threats don't affect our decisions - but your cooking makes us think twice on that stance...hehe.

I've heard of Italian being smooth with the ladies, but Ketch- you take this new places

Haha, you guys always rock my days, I hope I don't fill the distance once back in Italy, but Hey I will have a large place and tone of space for Visitors Barring Gifts ;)

Brent I wouldn't call that a threat... More like "an offer you cannot refuse" :-)

You don't want a titanium body.

Jim

Why do I have the feeling you were waving your hand in front of the screen à la These aren't the droids you're looking for while writing that.

Jedi mind tricks don't work on everybody... It may come up again later :)

Got it and understood, but if you guys want Lasagna I better be getting my Epic-M hehe (Just kidding..haha) or am I??
LOL (still waiting for you in this side of Atlantic, my friend :-)

Just ask Ketch - I have never once refused his cooking.

Hehe so true, and that is why I love to cook for my friends over at RED they sure appreciate my cooking and I enjoy that ;)

Not to worry buddy, will be there very soon, and trust me when I say that there will be a new Wave of Cinematography coming to Italy ;)

Well, if you have customers or your humble self needs an Epic NOW, then it's a good idea. If not, it isn't... -:)

I think it would be rather easy to make the extra cost back over 2-3 months....

Wait a second, 2 to 3 months lead time? Thats not what Jim said. "It is important to note that these cameras would not delay or hold up production from the line."

Jim also iterated today that they are 2 separate lines and that M would NOT impact delivery schedule... if anything, it should HELP speed up the X line
The M program announcement estimates Dec (now) - January as a build estimate for "M" cameras and then Feb limited production of EPIC-X would start rolling out and then ramping up to mass quantity production in April.

Im #103 so its looking more like maybe a couple weeks to a month after M (potentially) ... and I don't have a production lined up to rent the Camera for 20 days in that time. I have several lined up in March and April 2011.
so forgive me but I don't think there is a 2-3 month RENTAL advantage to M
(if there is, ill take 10 myself) . BUT I think this is mainly about being part of history of the EPIC, enjoying hand Machined quality versus Cast and of course uniqueness.

This kind of reminds me of the car bus. When the hot new model comes out in limited quantities, there is always someone who wants to be FIRST and pays a premium over sticker.

Now if I was #1500 - #2000 or more. Then I would probably jump on this. Right now, Im interested, but not sure Ill even get an "M" if I wanted to. Im guessing maybe 20 to 30 of these get made and certainly no more than 100.

Whats best for RED is to get to Stage 4 and Scarlet going as soon as possible, so they can get this logisitcally nightmarish TRADE-IN program to bed.

I for one look forward to that day in a year or so when its all about getting new accessories, lenses and Monstro brains ONLY.

Of course, its all subject to change, but I see a month tops between M and X deliveries rolling out.
