  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Pre Ordering of CS 6 began tonight: 4-22-12

Any promo code for REDusers?

No doubt you guys are aware of the price difference of Adobe products around the World, in Australia they are at least 50% more expensive compared to the US.

I was just watching SkyNews, a Member of Parliament was being interviewed and mentioned the cost of software in Australia and specifically mentioned Adobe, it seems the Australian Government may be having a good look at the Trade Agreement with the USA.
This should come as no surprise to Adobe as this has been brought to their attention numerous times on their own forums.

The cloud subscription isn't quite so bad ($63AUD/month vs $50US/month). Though considering there is no GST (it's an international purchase even through the Australian store) and our dollar is higher than the greenback these days, it is a little odd.

It's the principle of it. Can you imagine Red selling their products at a 50% premium to Australians- no way. Or how about we decide to up the price of iron ore or coal by 50% to US buyers. Trade Agreements are in place for this very reason, it wouldn't surprise me if companies listed on the NASDAQ have to comply with these Trade Agreements, we'll see.

What's the cost of a full package for those of us who don't have a CS5.5?

$1,899 for the full version of Production Premium CS6
$375 for the upgrade version of PP CS6 from Production Premium CS5.5

$49.99/month for EVERYTHING in the CS6 package via Creative Cloud with 1 year contract
$29.99/month for EVERYTHING in the CS6 package via Creative Cloud for first year with previously registered CS3+ product

Kwan, i think that's it. No deals other than the upgrade offer from what i see.....

I imagine you'll get a LOT of mileage out of 6 Brad. Thanks for your attention and helping out of other users here...

I guess there is good reason to keep it all in house--like Red does...I know in Mexico as many other countries...you have to pay import duties...so it's obvious that if i buy say the red camera at RED MEXICO store--if there was one...it would be more expensive since they have to pay duties to get the camera into the country....in my case it's 21% to just do a quick import not looking for any accounting tricks...that's crazy expensive. But, consider that fact that that's the cost of doing biz in other countries...and i'd bet that Adobe has to abide by certain policies to sell in other countries even online....such as when some of us (california for example) buy something online at say frys online and have it delivered to california it's a slap in the face to pay ca. state sales tax when it's being sold and coming from Tennessee....When was the next tax revolt planned? I think business is business...but now we have the govt. with their hand in everything....many of us understand this all too well.

Just to Backup Marks' statements which you replied to:

I once compared the Adobe production premium, in both cases without VAT, taxes and as download only - no shipping.
Compared US Adobe store and Belgium Adobe Store. I can look it up to check, but if I'm not mistaken, the difference was more than a thousand dollars. Not a mistake. $1000. Without VAT, download only.

Adobe has been (to my opinion) rightfully criticized for this for years, but have ignored all complaints.
The fact that none of the other software companies do this, or do that extent, has been ignored as well.

I love what Adobe is doing in the RED world, and CS6 looks very promising, but if they were doing this the other way (charging all US clients such a premium), I think the response might be exactly the Same.

I pre-orded last night and was pleasantly surprised the upgrade price was lower than expected. The one thing that worries me is when they talk about the new features and upgrades that only Cloud Subscribers will get in the future... I hope this doesn't affect us boxed buyers from getting any needed updateses regarding Red workflow...

Thanks, Mike!

Now, where did I put that $1,899...

Do you have any other past versions? I scored a decent deal the other day while doing some spring cleaning. I needed another license for incoming workstations here and had been watching ebay for deals. Then I found in the closet a copy of Creative Suite Premium from 2004. This was the first incarnation of the "Master Collection". It got forgotten because for a while there wasn't using Adobe software. Anyway... It was eligible for an $899 upgrade to CS5.5 Master Collection plus a free downloadable upgrade to CS6. That's what it looked like online, but the info was kinda vague so I called them. Turns out that's how it works, some of these older suites actually have better upgrade value than the more recent ones! ;)

Looks like they have some better pricing this time around for CS3 and CS4 owners looking to upgrade.
