  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

What are the options for powering a Teradek and wireless ff receiver on Komodo. Is there any way to do it if wanting to stick with the BP batteries? Or is the only way by using a v mount plate adapter?

FWIW, you might be best off with a second power source dedicated to the Teradek and FF RX. I can see a lot of benefit to building out a cheese plate solution that hosts the Teradek, FF RX and battery all neatly connected. This would make it fairly quick and easy to switch from rigged up with AKS, to strip it and grip it mode. Its also worth noting that even on DSMC2 configs with regular V mount batteries, I've had issues with FF motor draws taking down the wireless video signal. YMMV.

I think the basic approach remains traditional p-tap sources, and I like Blair's approach above. But there are also lighter, more compact batteries now available: smaller form-factor v-mounts (such as the Dynacore Tiny/GDU Mini and many others), and you can combine with a compact v-mount clamp (just a mount you can affix to rods/a cage, no electrical distribution plate) and perhaps a p-tap splitter. Never tried them, but I believe Zacuto has a line of "gripper" batteries that are shaped to sit directly on rods and offer p-tap out.
