Hello friends,

I'm trying to power Atomos Shogun from the Redvolt XL module and I'm having trouble finding any information on which cable would work.

There seems to be some controversy about the polarity that will work for this set up, some say Arri polarity is fine, the others that you need to order a cable with Red polarity.

This is one that Mark P. suggested but there's no info on polarity: http://www.markertek.com/Cables/Powe...-PWR7-02.xhtml

This is the one that people claim works eventhough it's w/ Arri polarity: http://www.paralinx.net/store/ptap-lemo-power-cable

Does anybody have a definite answer to this?
Also, any links would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Milan

Were you planning on connecting that Paralinx cable to the Atomos Dummy battery ?

That should actually work.

the XL plate is Arri standard polarity for its AUX, last time I checked .

For what it's worth...

Lemo-2pins (0B size) come in flavors of -
Arri-standard: pin 1 Ground, pin 2 +VDC
US-standard: pin 1 +VDC, pin 2 Ground

Red/Teradek/Parlinx are all Arri-standard.
I don't see US-standard that much. I know the Letus Helix gimbal uses it.

Great info, thank you.

I just tried a SmallHD monitor and it won't power from the XL Module. Does it mean it's because SmallHD uses the US standard?

Lewis, in order to problem-solve this, can you help with more specifics on which monitor model and what cable where you using? For example, was it a 502 with a Lemo2-to-Lemo2 cable plugging into one of their new LPE6 adapters?

It's a SmallHD DP6, and I used a 2 pin Lemo to DTap splitter from my Helix, and the DTap to barrel from my DP6

So this plugged in the XL Module (but without the DTap adapter, straight from the 2 Pin Lemo part):

And this plugged in the DTap splitter and in the DP6:

The Helix (and all its accessories) have US-wired Lemo2 plugs and will not help the more common Arri-wiring found in your Red XL Module. I'm afraid you are sending in reverse voltage to your DP6 with this setup.

isnt that bad?

they fried my Arrow Plus on set last year when someone plugged in a Dtap in reverse :P

Letus is US standard polarity on their stuff, most things are arri standard including red, things fry when polarity is wrong
