  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

POSTED: EPIC Firmware v1.6.44 (Release) and v1.7.9 (BETA)

Yeahhh, bring it on. Can't wait. Don't want to spend my money on Samurais, Ninjas. Rather spend it on more RED gear.

Dito...

Hey Jarrred, I'll real world test your playback. Im on a shoot now in China that would dawf most Hollywood movies. I can test your playback on it. :)

Yes I know, i know... :))))) .... NO!!!!!!!!!

Hey, you cant blame a man for trying.

Very excited though. :) very very excited, the next couple of weeks are going to great !!!!

I could roll back yes. But after installing 1.7.9, the camera will not boot, shuts down during boot.:(

The FW file may be corrupted during the download.

If you want to give it another try, please delete all old FW 1.7.9 related files including zip/image files just so it does not get mix up.

Then download a fresh copy of the firmware, copy to a different SSD and try it again?

Has anybody played around with the high-speed sync on the beta? Is genlock still sufficient?

We just wrapped up a job shooting on 3 epics all with 1.7.9 although we had to reboot cameras quite a few times, most of the crashes came after a hdmi cable that wasnt well fitted had its signal down and up again.... other than that FW worked great, monitoring was great while cables were fit, both wen we used HDSDI or HDMI,

Images look stunning.... we had issues with the redmote but we also had motorola radios on set, so i am crediting those issues to interference until further testing....

overall great firmware upgrade........ THANK YOU RED!!!!! another amazing dream from CAVALLARIA comming soon!

Did you upgrade the Redmote? and once the Redmote is upgraded will it work with v1.6.44 as it cant be rolled back-

I did upgrade the REdmote... although after i saw that some motorola radios would interfere wth it i stopped trying to use the tool i needed the least... in that case, since we had side-handles or touch-screens in all our cameras, the Redmote was put back in the back of the camera... wll do a few tests over the weekend, unfortunately i dont have the radios on me.... if it cant remain connected will try rollback one version...

Did you upgrade the Redmote? and once the Redmote is upgraded will it work with v1.6.44 as it cant be rolled back-

Camera release version 1.6.x requires REDmote version 771.x

Camera release version 1.7.9 requires REDmote version 1.x

The REDmote firmware can be rolled back, that is not an issue.
