  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Portland, Oregon?

Not to partycrash but I am an aspiring film professional in Port Townsend, WA and go to Portland frequently for business. My production company has been saving for a Scarlet for the year that we have been in business and are now just waiting on it's release. I have a true desire to become a part of the RED world but my remote location is a hindrance.

If your group would allow me to sit in on one of these oh-so-intriguing geek outs, I would be truly grateful. I am attempting to build RED support around my small community of filmmakers and design a home system that will allow me to work in RED. What I am missing is the actual RED experience. Listening to your group may be the best way for me to learn and move forward at this stage. I am aware that you also may be interested in keeping this small and exclusive and I do understand if that is the case.

Never hurts to ask, right?

Well, to be honest there seem to be two groups in Portland- those of us who are active in the red community and interested in connecting with other filmmakers as well as Red owners, and then there are those who don't. From what I understand of the people who have responded to this thread, those that are interested are up for networking / meeting others. If you want to come down from Port Townsend then great. :)

However, there is nothing official or regular going on here. (That I am aware of anyway.) Most of the other red people I've met have been through working on other projects ...

Need red in Oregon

Need red in Oregon

This form still around? I have a feature I'm looking to shoot on red if there are some available in Oregon. We might shoot in the ashland area but that is not locked down yet.
The script is the Reality crash book(look it up) Anyone interested?

Hey guys,

I'm an independent 3D animator and visual effects artist in Portland (I do HD CG primarily for TV -- History, Discovery Channel, Nat Geo and so on), and if anyone in the area is getting together to talk about filmmaking with the Red, I'd love to sit in and learn more about the camera.

You can email me at jonbell [at] esedona [dot] net. Thanks!

So no new posts on here. Here is a update. I filmed the demo scene with Ryan E Walters and we did some amazing work. In post now but want to see this form pick up again. How many Red Owners are in Portland/Oregon area now?

Hey Portland- We are looking to rent a very simple basic Red package for Tuesday. Please email the producer Stefan - stefan (at) rsmcreative (dot) com.
Thanks!

Not an owner yet, hopefully soon though. I do shoot as much as possible with Red though and am constantly pushing Opus Creative to start shooting with it more (as opposed to dslrs and the like). It's interesting to see how many we have in town though! Can't wait to see what it'll look like once more epic-x's make it out here.

Hey William,
Shawn Nelson has one, Tim at Indent has one or two, Todd Freeman has one.Oli Williams has one. Those are a few reds in town.

Hi there, I'm waiting for a Scarlet order placed in the wee hours of the 4th. Would be great to touch base with y'all.

Hey Michael and all. Our doors are always open to new Redusers. Feel free to bring your camera down to our prep room if you want to set back focus, black shade, shoot some charts and just hang out. With (2) RED Certified techs now. We can answer questions, help you define best practice workflows. etc etc.

cheers!
