  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Portland, Oregon?

Probably the best Red 'meetup' was our shoot two Saturdays ago :-)

We hope to change that perception in 2010. stay tuned... :gun::)

Sounds good man! Getting some Redrocket Suites up would definitely help that. Plus when there is Scarlet, Epic and Red out there, a lot more people. Plus with your facility, you could hold training events. So lead on man.

I was just noticing how many people here seem to know you (or others named sean spelled shawn. )

But it's true, there seems to be only a core group of folks here who interact well and not enough to do any sort of meet and greet. (Thought it might be worth trying it out sometime)

Sean Rawls is very active in DIT'ing and DP'ing with Red, and on here, though he isnt a Red owner yet.

While I am not in OR, I do have a SCRATCH system in the Seattle area. My REDRocket is on the way, so when SCRATCH 5.0 launches, I will have it up and running. I pretty much use it for personal projects, but I would like to get more use out of it.

Just to clarify, I was talking to Sean Rawls. My bad spelling.
I haven't met Shawn yet. :wink5:

Hey Milan,
Glad to hear that I helped you along the road to Red. Did you ever see that drifting stuff? I cut together some selects for my operating reel, check it out: http://www.seanrawls.com/dp under "Drift Racing Promo".

Let me know next time you're shooting up here, and for commercial stuff look me up if you need a DIT.

happy shooting,

happy shooting,

I'll keep in touch for sure, it was pleasure working with you.
I've seen all the Red drifting footy when we edited the show. Most of it ended up in the series opening sequence (for all 7 shows). Looked great.

Cheers,

Milan

PS I second the microbrewery idea, that may just tip the scales and make me move to Portland for good. :)

Lucky Lab Brew Pub is right across the street from our Facility :)

Good food and good drinks- if you haven't been there check it out. And of course say hi to Tim- his place is rockin' . :)

Tim, you thinking some sort of geek out session at your place followed by Lucky Lab? :reddevil:

Josh, did that go through? Are tickets booked?

No booked tickets yet. It's still "on" but no confirmations of dates yet. I've committed to a doc on human trafficking though in the meantime. I'll be home for Thanksgiving and hopefully gone right after that.

yeah, something like that. And the upcoming Stunt event should be fun too.

Im trying to get Bill to let us do some green screen stuff at same time.

Then we can host a RED and VFX and Wire Stunts weekend...

stay tuned

Not sure how he will structure this one, but I know the one I did before culminated in a short "performance", so it might work well to only greenscreen and film the last few hours (as opposed to the whole time)

Alright, a communal geek out at Indent followed by fine ales at the Lab? Sounds splendid. I will be out of town from the 20th till Nov 16th on a feature, so save some nerdery for me!

Not to partycrash but I am an aspiring film professional in Port Townsend, WA and go to Portland frequently for business. My production company has been saving for a Scarlet for the year that we have been in business and are now just waiting on it's release. I have a true desire to become a part of the RED world but my remote location is a hindrance.

If your group would allow me to sit in on one of these oh-so-intriguing geek outs, I would be truly grateful. I am attempting to build RED support around my small community of filmmakers and design a home system that will allow me to work in RED. What I am missing is the actual RED experience. Listening to your group may be the best way for me to learn and move forward at this stage. I am aware that you also may be interested in keeping this small and exclusive and I do understand if that is the case.

Never hurts to ask, right?
