  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Porsche vs. Camaro

Jarred challenged my to a footage shootout this weekend. I'm on an island with "Prague" and thought I had an advantage... but it looks like I took the competition too lightly. This stuff is baddass times forever. Good job Jarred and crew. BTW, I've seen this footage (not just the frame grabs) and it rocks off the chart. It is a real showcase of what our camera can do.

The weekend is not over... :-)

I have to say... I LOVE this camera. I'm also shooting the 300mm RED lens and it is all-world. I have the prototype 50-150mm RED zoom as well, so I have an unfair advantage. But I must say that Jarred and the team surprised me with the car footage.

Yay, a shootoff! Give them the Blue Steel.

Yeah... it sounds like Jarred had an army of five against "Prague" and I. Seems like a mismatch. Just the way I like it... :-)

Jim

heheheh... My army is good... But I think everyone here will agree that Jim Jannard by himself is larger than an army of a hundred thousand.

Jim, quick, buy a Jet and mount the camera on it! :w00t:

Psssshhhh! Not enough! Jim could talk to the Russians, throw his spare change at them and get Red mounted to a space rocket :-)

Now Jarred....it's not fair anymore if that's your best shot.

Why not make it interesting....3 seconds...and it must include a cut/dissolve.

Uhhhhmmm... that looks a lot like Hidden Valley/Decker/Encinal Canyon. If I find out you guys were filming that close to me without my knowledge, I'm punching somebody in the balls pretty hard... starting with myself.

jarrad:

glad you were inspired by my car mounts the other day ( i caught you and matt checking out my steeze), but, you took it to a whole new level!!!!

Sorry Evin.. this was a last minute "hell lets go shoot something" day. Its cool having a team of guys that all shoot, edit and drive like maniacs.

Zak, Sean, Kevin and Isreal made me proud. Zak did such a good job of keeping the camera car close to the action that his brake pads actually caught on fire.

And who knew good old Jon could drive well enough to give Matt's 911 a run for the money.

Hey Zakaree is that your lexus you were trying to sell a few months ago that you used as a camera car?

Sweet wheels. By the way did the wheels catch fire too? May not be so great for the resale value as I am sure you will be honest about how the car was driven.

I do have a friend on the island... but I have to admit, he is not much help.

Shot with the 300mm lens. A couple of apples coaxed this guy in pretty close.

I have put my Canon 1Ds MkII away for good...

Wow! That is so cool!

Heh, even the deer was like "Whoa, a Red!" :-)

Jim great shot of the deer. But I must say with this board being 98% guys I just don't see even the cutest bambi beating out fast sports cars for affection. Unless of course you shoot Bambi the hot beer tub girl from the local pub.

By the way I think someone mentioned you were at an island? My wife and I cycle toured the San Juan islands a few years ago with our bicycles and trailers. We broke a chain right by one of the towns on Orcas Island so we stopped at wildlife cycles and as the tech was thowing on a chain I asked what the heck that crazy looking building was that we passed a ways up was. He just started to laugh and said it was a wildly designed week-end house the owner of Oakley had built to look like his sunglasses. He mentioned he had met you a few times before and that you were a down to earth great guy. Is what he told me about that being your place true? It was a wild place to say the least. Seems like you take design to a whole new level everywhere you go.

I love Orcas but haven't been there for a couple of years. I didn't build anything there. He must have had a few too many beers. I live on a different island out in the middle of nowhere.

The only way to get here is by plane... shot with RED 50-150mm zoom.
