  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

You're life has been in the middle of the big moves in history. Impressive. Make the best out of it and make a great film. Most good films are based on personal experiences.

How many directors have been in a car chase or gunfight...? Most of it is secondary literature, seen in other movies (how else) and in the best case newly interpreted. This is the reason why I find most action films meaningless. (end of off-topic rant)

I am it's called "Sonja" It's about my mothers journey, born a German Contessa her early childhood in a castle, through the horrors of Hitler's Germany, trapped behind the Iron Curtain, escaping to the west but tragically separated from her first child, to American Citizen and finally reunion with her daughter after the fall of the Iron Curtain....

She thinks no one would be interested in her story.

She wont let me do it until she's dead....

I have fond memories of Idar-Oberstein. We used to camp out at the abandonded castle and rapel down the tower. The walls are so thick you can sleep in the window sills.
Used to run over to BirnKastle for the wine festival (RhineLand Phalz area). Used to live in Birkenfeld and Neubrucke.
 
I'd be interested in seeing "Sonja", Adobeone. You've definately got a strong story there that would carry the distance. Wish you luck there.

Lot of passionate people here with examples and facts flying fast and furious. But reading through this rollar-coaster of a thread it appears that most points are driven by people with good moral compasses and I think I could comfortably have a beer with folks from either "side".

I could not agree more with that sentiment, the only one I would avoid is Dave Farland, he has a rash....

Yeah my Mom is a complex woman, the past is very painful for her... It has taken years to get just the tip of the iceberg. It comes in waves now, the other day she tells me the story of when she traveled all day and slept in her car so she could be at the airport when JFK visited Germany. She got to look at him in straight in the eye.
 
I know what you mean about the rash ! kidding.
My mother in law has a similar background. On a recent trip to Germany with her she shared many painfull stories with us as we visited places from her childhood; What charmed lives we live.

This shivers down my spine... I'm gonna steel your story. Do it, don't wait. This is the big drama you can't concieve just by drifting around in LA bars - personal experience is required.

Sometime you might tell me your mums maiden name... I might know the family. Not now, not in the near future, somewhere down the way....

Yeah I should do it right now, but not only do I love my mom, I like her too. If I did it now it would have to be inspired by a true story, I would have to make up to much to fill the holes. The film for me is about honoring her and celebrating my German roots. As I have said it is a very hard time for her to re-live. When she talks about it, I can see it in her eyes, she not separated from the events like an observer, she's reliving them. Whatever it is, there is more to the story I'm getting.... That time for Germans is different, you start digging into the seller you don't know what you'll find... You think someone is saint, and find out their a war criminal... I sure that is the not the case, but their is way more in there...

Plus I'm in my popcorn movie phase, bullets,babes, and bombs, but with a real heart and emotional subtext:usd: :usd: :usd: :usd:
 
Well my political radar sucks.....I thought the Mayor was going to win Florida, and continue to win big on super Tuesday, wrong, wrong, wrong was I....

I still think Senator Clinton will get the Nomination.... This statement should give great hope to you Senator Obama fans. As my endorsement of Senator Clinton, could mean the kiss of death to her political career.....

Big Tuesday

Please Vote tomorrow, put a side your apathy, and your lack of enthusiasm for the process. Your vote counts, they wouldn't spend the money they do to get it if it wasn't valuable.

So you Conservatives, stand up and make a choice. You liberals make a decision. You Independents who can vote in a primary, show them you are the key to Victory. All that think it's a just a joke and the fix is in, write in Homer Simson..... JUST SHOW UP

I'm not really thrilled with either choice at this point, but I will vote in November and I will make a decision. Like most election years, I most likely will decide after the last debate.

Rev Wright is stuck in the 1960's and no matter were he looks, thats the only reflection he sees . I could never say with any certainty, whether he is a figure who has painted himself into a corner of Ideology, and his pride. He will not allow himself to consider that it's a new day. Or if he's a race hustler fueled by ego, and afraid he will lose his pice of the pie. I don't know.

But I will share what my Pastor has said to me. The foundation of true Christianity, no matter the group is truth. As much as we love to make it subjective, or think of it as relative, it is not. It is constant, unescapable, and in the end it always comes out. Weather it's in a Court of Law, a Select Committee room on the hill, an AA meeting, or a confessional on MTv's Reel World.

So if unadulterated truth is at one end of the human seesaw, than unconditional love is at the other. Our emotions act as the fulcrum. That fulcrum moves a slave to our emotional states, these states spin the whole human mechanism. We will as a species will never be in balance, all we can do is minimize the wobble.

He we are 40 plus years from the civil rights movement. I was born into the world, created by my ancestors. From Truman, Kennedy, King, and Malcolm. You can't segregate me from my Blackness this is my cultural heritage, I don't see America as them,or me. I see it as us. What I have seen displayed in the last few weeks has been a steeping pile of bullshit. Senator Obama is going to be the President someday, of that I have no doubt. It could be this time around or the next, but his time will come. That is the truth.

No Black Man or Black Woman can become the President, and First Lady without the white vote. As seen through the bigotry of Wright, that fact makes it a certainty that it will never happen. He inserts himself, and proclaims, he alone will be the Judge of how much progress we have made as a Nation. All other exculpatory evidence that unmistakable points to enormous progress, does not exist in his paradigm. This Man is angry at the Senator, he feels betrayed by the Obama's. He wants to hurt them.

Everything I've read or seen by the Senator Obama has been pretty consistence going back to his time before his speech at the 2004 DNC Convention, I'm always open to additional information. He does not share Wrights World View, and the Senator nailed it in his press conference when he called it a performance. I'm still undecided on allot of issues, but there is no denying He is looking Presidential.
