hi - just about to upgrade to epicW and have a question re the pogo connectors. I am based in Kenya and frequently find myself shooting in extremely dry & dusty conditions. I have invested in the movcam multifuntion top plate to go with the epicW and will be feeding my old bomb oled evf from the multipin lemo connector for legacy evf cable output on the side of the top plate. So basically both pogo connectors will be uncovered. How susceptible are the pogo connectors to dust and foreign bodies if left open to the elements? And is there any blank cover available to protect them?

When DSMC2 first came out, me and a few other people were experimenting with making POGO protectors. I have found they are not necessary at all. I would like to hear what others on the forum have to say.

I always cover the Pogo connections with a strip of camera tape when not in use just to keep them safe from scratches or corrosion. After using my camera in very harsh conditions like rain and dust and sea spray I’m always pleased to see that the small bit of tape has keep the connector looking clean and new. On the side connector you could just keep the lemo EVF connector on it to protect it and be ready if you need to plug in the EVF or touch screen.

I always keep a role of electrical tape in my kit to close up electrical contacts or connectors when moisture or dust is around.

I felt it should be covered & thought camera tape was a bit poor looking so I had some covers made on a 3D printer.

This is the inside view showing a slight raised edge to keep the pressure off the pins when tightened...v simple & effective too.

are you selling those? and what size screws do you use?

That looks nice. I agree with you re the aesthetics of the camera/electrical tape option although it is the obvious fix. Is there any chance that you would be selling any of these?

Unfortunately we only made two & they were made in a rush before I left for a shoot in a Northern Chinese desert. We used two black M4 Hex/Allen bolts to match the rest of the camera

Maybe a little rubber gasket to keep out the moisture and a snug fit?
Or electrical tape.:001_cool:
I'm sure someone on here has access to a 3D printer & could design one...not sure about finding a gasket / 'O' ring though...might be a case of getting a length of rubber & cut it to fit in the inside of the cover with the join at the bottom? yes, they were a super snug fit.

Sorry Jim as above. I have asked them but they're snowed under with other work & this isn't something they'd get into.

I know that the company KIPPERTIE (based here in London) have all the tech & materials to make some that'd look 'proper' they may even get your name on them too :) Nothing to loose in asking huh?: john@kippertie.com & fernie@kippertie.com.

Good luck, Stu.

Electrical tape should work great in theory, guessing Gaff tape isn't a good option. Agreed, on someone making a cover or two. I"m in som enough environments, I'd be afraid to see something go down via dust/sea spray/minor moisture.

thanks Stuart. Funnily enough i met John as i was picking up my new epicW at Red Europe last week. He was showing me the Revolva which gives you the ability to have an ND filter wheel behind the lens. Very nice bit of kit. https://kippertie.com/revolva/
