  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Pocket Dolly Slider for Scarlet

Here is the Edelkrone sliderPlus with a Scarlet....although totally bare

Totally bare, hehe, they could have saved a few more gram by using a lighter lens. ;)
Nice find. I like that target system, haven't seen that before. Really cool stuff.

They really should bring some kind of a heavy duty edition of the XL, one that takes a rigged Scarlet/EPIC.

Dana Dolly in Action. I went out to Home Depot and bought a ten foot piece of pipe and had the HD guy cut it in half. Thus, a five foot slider-very heavy duty. See attached link for photo http://fallingactionfilms.com/danadolly.html (sorry, the only photo I could find of dana slider)

I'd say the Dana Dolly is definitely the best dolly alternative, but personally I'm concerned more with portability and setup speed right now. That Edelkrone is really tempting... can someone please give a review on it once they try it? IK wonder how much weight your tripod and head need to hold in order to have it on their firm from side to side because mine has a payload capacity of 33 lbs but cannot even come close to handling the Rhino at end to end...

I have the PB edition slider, but I don't use with the Scarlet.

It's fine for what I use it for, not mind blowing. I can imagine it being a bit weak for the Scarlet, it tends to flex at the ends with just a FS700 on it. You can of course use two tripods to fix that issue, but I really couldn't carry two around all the time.

Sorry, not much help but hey-ho.

did some testing with my Alva vert board on a dining room table.

after a few tries, I think the Edelkrone at 1.7' would be enough for me.

of course a 5' Kessler would be best but I dont have that budget at the moment.

anyone have input on my findings please add :)

Played with it at NAB. 10 pounds max with hesitation. Great innovation but it's really designed for DSLR weight.

Same here, it does worry me a little.

Their claim of 16lbs irks me.

I pulled the trigger on the Slider Plus (16 lbs class) and got a 20% discount.

6 to 8 weeks delivery, I guess I will know then if it can handle the weight.

Whatever you do, do NOT invest in Cinevate Atlas sliders. They are incompatible with RED and will cause a lot of crappy bumpy dolly moves. The reason I mention that piece of crap is becasue they make some that are very portable, but at the end of the day, they are all for dSLR.

My new favorite is the Glidecam Vistatrack 48. ROCK SOLID. Its not really a Pocket Dolly, but it handles the Scarlet and Epic perfectly.

I'm not sure what you mean. Plenty of RED users use the Atlas 30.

MYT Works. Give it a try.

I'm another MYT Works owner / user - great piece of kit that will hold a fully loaded Epic or Scarlet with all the extra 'Medusa' weight & crap that the kids love to load on today.
The first, last and only slider you'll ever have to buy.

Do you need two tripods for it? The image I'm looking at shows only one, but then again so does the Rhino Slider's and I certainly can't make do with just one tripod and my Scarlet on that... I can't really go more than a 2 foot range when it's like that because it stops being sturdy.

I've really been looking for one that I can throw on my sticks (which are rated up to 35 pounds) and go end to end with, but perhaps it's my sticks that are failing me as much as the slider?

Usually my MYT Works sits on a set of Pro HD 150mm ball head sticks - rock solid in the studio or on location. On occasion, I've been forced to use them on a set of less sturdy (think e-image) sticks with either 100mm or 75mm ball - in those scenarios a baby c-stand under one end helps to steady.

To be fair, my experience was with the Atlas 10, which I consider their "pocket slider" The Atlas 30 looks more robust, but I have no experience on it.

My experience with the Atlas 10 on DSLR was GREAT, but as I upgraded to the Scarlet, the extra weight was too much for the slider and caused countless bumps and hitches in my moves, which caused lots of stabilization in post that is not necessary.

Oh man, Yes two very different classes. If the Atlas 30 is still not robust enough, you have the Atlas 200.
