  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

PN-K321!

Other options that will be released next year are significantly more expensive from what we've been told. Even the 32-inch Viewsonic display which apparently uses the same panel was given an initial price quote several times more expensive than the price attached to the Sharp.

Sure sounds like a winner for RedUsers if the price is right. Wonder if it would work with the RedRay player...

Cheers - #19

Yes and No. According to the info I just dug up, it should sort of work with REDRay using it's two HDMI 1.4 inputs, but it appears to be designed for imaging/CAD and not video use. HDMI 2.0 - which is coming out soon and built for 4K - is what you want to wait for and there will be a lot of those coming on the market next year. I'm sure SHARP will introduce an upgraded version of the monitor once HDMI 2.0 is approved.

HDMI 1.4 does support 4K, at 8bpc color depth and up to 30Hz. They are probably using dual HDMI's in a split-screen fashion to provide full resolution to the display at 50/60 Hz. You are correct though that HDMI 2.0 does add a lot more 4K support. 2.0 supports 4K and UHD (Quad HD) and 10 and 12 bpc. I don't know about max frame rates or if it supports frame packed 3D at those resolutions.

This monitor looks very interesting. I think we're in for a treat here in Janurary with CES and I'm expecting even more toys in time for NAB. I know of a few more 4K displays coming, but I can't say any more than that. Some of them are priced reasonably too. I plan to have a very nice 30 to 32 inch 4K monitor on my workstation desk for under $5K by the end of 2013. If what I have been told lately by a few key people is true, I will have a few options to choose from while making that happen. Can't wait!

This sounds amazing Jeff. I am very glad that this technology will very soon become affordable!

I just hope someone comes out with a good 37-incher for a good price. It's hard to get away from that to something smaller once you've touched the 37-inch EIZO.
