Hi PLAYBACK FANS...
We have a PLAYBACK FAILURE!

I've just had 3 EPICS at the same time loose EVF PLAYBACK...Actualy, not so much loose it, but we have ended up with a scrolling video playback, like and OLD 1970's TV...
The Scrolling image is through the EVF's only.. Perfect one day... 3 Separate EVF's on 3 separate EPICs go down at the same time.... Very very Odd.

Playback through the 5 inche touch and HDSDI monitors are perfect. All EVFs Scrolling image... all at the same time, all on separate bodies...

Any one have the problem, Anyone found a way to fix it quickly

RED.. ? Please pipe in. We are on set and shooting hard and using EVFs for PLAYBACk.. please help.

Cheers guys.

Mark,

I know you have e-mailed RED by now. I would:

1. Power down and remove all batteries, disconnect everything from the brain and power down for at least a minute with nothing attached. Then try to restart.

IF nogo then,

2. Save your setttings and then go into the menu and do a FACTORY RESET with the camera powered up, cycle power and try again.
If nogo

3. POwer down and do a FW update on one of the camera's
if nogo

4. Rollback to 1.7 (no playback)

That's what I would try first. Also try to remain calm ( i know it sounds dumb but it matters)

It will keep doing it when playing back through the EVF, just use the LCD (for now)

Justin,

You are saying that if you control playback from the BOMB EVF the problem persists, but if you use the LCD, it's fine?

David

Its a known issue with Red. Still let them know. They are working on it. A firmware reinstall cures it for me, but it does come back.

Mark,

If you haven’t already please send a support ticket also get log files for the cameras ready to send as well, more info you provide the better.

Regards,

Thanks for posting Mark-
Scarlet about to arrive and I only have a BOMB so this would be baaaaaad.....
So, Playback Nazi: "No playback for you!"

Mark check the temp of the camera when it happens. This is just a guess but your fan might be set just a tad too low. Then again I probably don't know what I am talking about.

Good luck

Thanks David. :) I'm Calm.., But cannot believe this happened on 3 of my EPICs ion the same day with 3 BOMB EVF's! On the only Day were I needed them. Bit Grumpy!
PLAYBACK has been a god send still.. but who would have ever thought it would wipe out the EVF's .

Same thing happens on mine (epic x) and a friends epic m. My solution was never do playback w evf. I assumed it was always the case, ie a known bug. I plan to do some reinstall firmware this weekend for other reasons, see if I can ever get it to work properly. I have had it happen in room temp environment and with the camera recently booted up as well as a little later in the day so it is not a overheat situation...

There was another issue with the Bomb a few weeks ago in a thread of its own. Sorry can't find it right now. Could these two issues be related? I remember it had to do with color and contrast of the image and one of the issues was the Bomb internal heater. Don't quote me on this, please. Just a rough guess. I am hoping for a firmware upgrade to the Bomb that will address these problems. Have one in hand , but still waiting for my X, so I can't even test yet. I know Red will get this straightened out soon.
