We have been experimenting with sunex 185 degree super fisheye.

What we done is a PL mod for the above lens. As I figured there must be more than us that would like to have such lens and we all ready have the CNC drawings etc. We will make a batch of them

We also shot some quite astonishing full 360 panoramas for a project that is not out just yet so I can not show you any of it just yet. but we got this test shot:

The lens is very good for being in the less than 1000 USD category and since it shoots 185 degrees it only needs 2 (does better with 3) plates to shoot full 360 all directions. Also the lens makes a perfect circle right within the 5k full sensor frame soit uses as much as it can of the Epic.

We will charge 1200USD + shipping for a Sunex with Canon + our PL mount. The PL mount then also have adjustable focus.
For a total of 1500USD + shipping we will sell the full kit with PL mount EOS mount and also the nice "svivel head" that puts the lens in perfect nodal and let you snap into the 3 instances for a panorama which makes the post work a bit easier since it's then all the same settings.

So send a PM if this is something you would like to buy. If we get more then 10 people to sign up we can ship a first batch mid february 2012.

That is pretty cool. It really changes how the world looks. It took my mind awhile to adapt and see that the gate is infact behind us if we look down the street. I really like it.

Now we got 3 intrested buyers. And a few questions regarding the look of the pictures. here is a link to a frame shot not with epic but a DSLR, the epic frames looks the same but have more black on left to and right. In other word is't a panorama frames so it does not fill up the whole sensor out to the corners. but two of those snaps makes a full sphere.

This looks more like 170 degrees-not quite half sphere.

it's 185 for sure we been stitching quite a few of them. But since picture quality always is better towards the center of the 360. It's better done using 3 overlapping images.

Here is a still 360. this could just as easy be 98 fps since there is a small program coming with the lens that can also handle movie streams...
It's just outside our office, I guess both exposure and focus could be a lot better. this is rather late when the sun is setting and it's not HDRx and such.
Whats funny is if you look straight down you pretty much see the whole tripod..

Syndicate is located on the corner where the baby hummer is parked. Sadly the big Red Mysterium X sticker on the car side door is not visible from this angle :(

Does the mounting option - ie with canon and PL mean that it can work on a 5d and the epic/red?

Yes you can jump in between PL and EOS mount, the two mounts are on threads so just as easy to swap as unscrewing a jar lid or such..

Also just to clarify, the prices mentioned on top is including the actual lens and mount/mod.

Bump...

We will now order the bits needed for the second batch of 10 lenses. Let me know if I should make that number higher.

how do you control the f stop or light????

The lens has fixed f stop. You can however use ND filters behind the lens., if when doing time laps panoramas or such. But the normal procedure when shooting panoramas is to adjust exposure with the shutter. The F-stop does noe really affect a lens like this , your DOF is almost infinite, so focus and F stop is not considered big factors.

Hi Björn, couple of questions for you.

How are you using ND filters behind the lens, are they attached directly to the Sunex or is this because of your PL mount?

Any plans for a Nikon version of this - as I already have a Nikon Sunex lens?

Thanks

Matt
