  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

PL mounts for sale on eBay?

Since tolerances for Canon (photographic) lenses are much looser than for most PL glass, you may need a flange adjustment if it was adjusted before for the Canon you used. I's not really hard to do on an Epic or Scarlet and has been described over and over here at Reduser.

The quality and build of this PL mount same as the Canon Al mount?

David, thats a lovely little setup. Not too interested in the handles but who makes your rails as i'd like a cheapo mattebox and F/focus at some point... oh and is your top handle attached via any red mounting equipment or just bolted on?

I also have a Ciecio7 m43>FD mount that I like a lot. He makes some nice things.

I think it would be useful for RED to post a list of all the accessories that have been approved for use.

If something is going to void my warranty, I'd rather hear that it's been approved from the source.
Also, I was wondering if a manufacturer creates an approved mount, do they need to still send in other mounts they create too?

The top handle, rod bracket, battery plate, shoulder pad, dovetail, handles are all WC. The top handle screws to the brain with two 1/4-20 screws, very secure, no flex. The rods are old, Cavision carbon fiber, purchased long ago when I shot mostly betacam. The rods are crap, too much flex.

The aluminum PL mount is solid and works just fine for all my work.

very, very nice David... I'm very much in love... That's how I want my Scarlet rig... light and fast..

I'm interested in one of these PL mounts. My scarlet's just slipping out of warranty, so I'm on my own if anything goes wrong anyway!
My question to those who already ordered: these shipping from Europe, right? If so, what additional customs or import fees are likely to be charged to California?

You would have to pay import duty... Just like we have to when we buy from the US. I guess it would cost you about $35 extra

im in Turkey and requested from the seller tag it as gift or 50$ metal item..so in the end i didnt pay any customs

I'm about to pull the trigger on this... I was curious, have you guys tried these with the weight of any anamorphics, like Lomos or Hawks? I really love the look of Hawk lenses, was going to get it for that reason. Obviously with the heavier barrels, we'd use rod support anyway but I'm curious if there's any bending forward/down on it and does the threads stay clean, not stripped from the pressure...?

Anyone know if this vendor will be at NAB 2013?

I would honestly pick one up if I at least get to hold one in my hands.

Hello RED users

Some time ago we sent our mounts for Epic/Scarlet cameras to RED for testing. We've recently got answer from mr Chad Koeller that: " Our engineers have finished testing your lens mounts and they appear to be OK from a mechanical standpoint" .
I hope that is enough proof of theirs quality.

My scarlet has a Canon lens mount.
Do you have an adapter, that I can use a rented PL mount lenses to my scarlet ?

I think you mean the PL mount that is being discussed. It's so simple that I can't imagine the need for an adapter. You'd unscrew the screws holding on your Canon Ti mount, and replace it with the PL mount - and then you have a PL mount Scarlet.

Has anyone bought from the Website lately?

I literally ordered one a few days ago, had consistent contact with the guy running it. After the payment went through with PayPal, since I was having trouble I was in direct contact with someone there. And sent a payment he said he'd ship soon. No shipment has yet happened, and he isn't replying to emails?

Has this turned into a scam?
