  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

PL Mount 11-16mm f2.8 Prototype, Manual Iris

I'd take a 993 but pass on the turbo part. These cars are fast enough and there is a power / handling balance going on that's quite fun once you learn it....

Matt, what you are saying is that you are scared. :)

All 911's have that balance, but I agree. I pick the 993 turbo not for it's driving but for it's look. Best handling cars are 4-wheel drive with ~30-70% split front to back anyway, and best driving cars are mid-engine real wheel drive, or to make things better center seating mid engine cars :-)

I think you should go out and photograph an F1 with the Tokina... get some high speed super low angles from an other car with insane motion blur on everything but the car... hehe... ok... I'll STFU now :)

If you only like the "look" of the Turbo you can get a Carrera S body package with a t-tail... It will save you a big chunk of cash when it comes to maintenance time if your not interested in the performance differences.

Unfortunately Jared, I won't be crossing that bridge yet. : )

There are so many cars I love though... I have so very seldom seen photography that captures the cat like beauty of an Acura NSX, very few that get the visual glory of the 993 with the big spoiler (t-tail?). I would also be very happy with a 1965 911 (912) so long as it looked mint. :drools: But that will be even harder to get...

Get to work Matt!

Try to follow me up on Angeles Crest or around Willow Springs and we'll see who is scared ?

Perhaps we should set up a reduser.net track day @ Willow ? Brook W. had a nice tweaked WRX, Matt Duclos has a Mustang, I think there are a few trackable cars @ Red I remember some footage with a 911 and a Camaro ? I'd love to see that 959 driven in anger... will Jim unleash it ? Things get very real when you're on the track... You can't trash talk your way past a stopwatch.

First I have to get me a car to match yours Matt, then I won't need to type trash anymore, all I'll need is my rear-view mirror. But I am talking trash... last time I raced anything was about 5 years ago...

It's more about drivers - Last time at Willow I thought I was pretty fast, passing S2000's the odd WRX / EVO. This kid with a dead stock HONDA FIT was really fast and I would catch him on the straights and he would get away from me big time on the curves, the inside rear wheel of the Fit was always airborne by a few inches going into turns, while I struggled to keep up. Frankly that was hard to accept. Turns out he was a sponsored pro rally driver...

Jim's 959's are not street legal... I have a slightly modified 996 though and our Matt (the designer) has a pretty sweet 993 4S. Truth be told Brook's tweaked STI would probably kick all of our asses though when it came down to it.... in today's terms the stock non-turbo 993's really arn't that fast to begin with and even in my 996 I've had some difficulty beating tuned EVO's.. Those Japanese don't fuck around anymore.

I did just get a 1974 SCOUT though that has a little something special under the hood.. too bad it's geared to climb mountains instead of swallow ferrari's :)

Anyone care to have a little time trial up Mulholland or Stunt Rd.? ;)
I got somethin' for ya.
When I'm not tweaking optics, I'm with my friends in the canyons. Every weekend you can find me atop "the Snake".
Anyone care to identify the F-car?
Hint: It's not a 360. ;)
That's how I roll.

fooled me.. looks like a 360CS in Novitec Orange to me.

Quite right my friend.
Im impressed.

Without the traditional CS stripe, everybody thinks its just a regular 360.
But that is one beast of a pace car through Mulholland and the likes.

The stripe has always been an option.. The Challenge Stradale badge on the tail though isn't :)

Until you get to the 996/997 line.

The turbo/GT donkey is a much easier thing to work on than the lump in the regular car. Damn sight more reliable as well; no bloody leaking RMS's.

That being siad, the inital outlay is of a higher magnitude.

[Note for pedants:yes, I kinow that the new Direct injection lumps have no RMS issues (apparently)]
