  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

It honestly looks like it's labeled as 2 headphone jacks to me. Why? I dunno. My laptop has this too.

I hope the new switchblade/red mote combo thing is optional, and can be replaced with whatever the new side handle thing turns out to be. Much more functional for how I use the camera.

I also hope that whole redvolt xl piece is a removable option. I will stick to AB or v-mounts.

What at if a redvolt now lasted 1.5 hours if they found a way to be more power efficient? The touchscreen eats a lot of the power, but who knows?

It's probably modular.

There is a photo some where in this jigsaw puzzle with ta3 connectors. Maybe this is The legacy module and there a similar one with pro audio upgrade.

Not sure. Looking closely one is headphones and the other is ???

David, If you can find that photo, I'll buy you a round of beers. :cheers2:

I agree with Will and Michael. The other jack appears to be a mic input but it's hard to make out the symbol.

Is that a single REDVOLT in the picture? If you can mount two REDVOLTS side by side for hot swap, that would be pretty nifty.

Im on the treasure hunt like everyone else! Would love to see ta3 implemented. What is the point of having this tiny camera with these massive full sized xlrs? I know standards, standards, but locking ta3 do the same thing in a fraction of the size and weight. For the r1 I just has the cables made and I loved them. If anyone wants to use adapters that's fine, but I liked that they went 4 channel ta3 on the original body, more high quality tracks onboard with small form factor.

I know now the sound guys go nuts, but the solution is literally 4 adapter cables.

Looks like 8k is very strategically blurred out as well. :). Everything else is brighter, but tha part looks "erased" :)

I totally agree that ta3 would be a good option. Especially for (like you said) those of us who've invested in those cables for the R1. I have a bunch of them sitting around.

I Wonder if there's any way to hot swap batteries with weapon. One of the things I like the most with my Epic is that I can keep a redvolt on the side handle, and hot sawap Vmounts all day. I figure You can hot swap sigle redvolts on this module one at a time, but what if you want to take out the redvolts and exchange for a redvolt XL? It would be insanely cool if the camera had a internal batterie, like the Black Magic camera... Even if it lasted like 1 minute, just so you could hot swap batteries.

Mmm - with the recent UK/EU price rises (big % hikes), I had basically ruled out going to the Weapon... but the latest Peter Jackson tease clip makes the unit look so usable - with all the interfaces easily accessible plus the Switchblade/interface unit being part of the unit (and wireless monitor etc), it seems to be well thought out.

Interesting... but probably wallet sapping :)

I was so convinced I wouldnt upgrade for now. Now I'm seeing how happy Pete is with Weapon. I think I want one too now :001_unsure:

Loving the design so far too. Agree with David. I'm sure we'll be recording better sound in camera too. I like the small form factor and I'm sure it will be a less power hungry beast. RED wouldnt have kept using the red volts otherwise.

It is me or does it look like the area that looks like an updated side handle is removable maybe acting as a wireless remote as well?

Yup - looks removable like a redmote. Saw that too. Pretty cool.

My question is - where do you fit a Teradek Bolt and others AKS? This cam is tiny!!!

I guess its a good problem to have!!

Scratch audio & head phone symbols
never thought i would crop this man one day, sorry Peter ;-)

perhaps the pro audio will be somewhere else or on another module
