  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Phil's NAB Journal 2013

Epic Upgrade Options:

- Epic-M owners can pre-order the upgrade for $9500
- Early Red adopters can pre-order for $8500 and receive a $1000 store credit when invoiced.

Nice one Phil, thanks for posting... ;)

Just a correction needed here, it is a $1,000 credit when invoiced on the total $9,500 of the Dragon Upgrade, so that they end up only paying an invoice of $8,500, no store credit given, and it is a discount off the original price, so that they pay a total of $8,500 instead of $9,500.

Just woke up from my slumber.

I'll do my best to get some answers to a few of those questions.

For those curious about ODEMAX (and REDRAY for that matter). You, me, and we are all crazy excited about getting those products to market. However, this is really one of things that you kinda need to develop and execute properly. Meaning if everything isn't relatively bulletproof and easy to implement or even use it could be very detrimental to the adoption of the system. So everybody is working hard on doing things the right way and in some cases the better way. I have a pretty good feeling that relatively soon there might be a video rundown of all the features and abilities of ODEMAX. The tools for content creators are pretty impressive and managing your projects is pretty much being done in a way that nobody has seen before. Stay tuned to this one. I think we'll see a lot of info pop up in the next 30-60 days.

@ Ketch and Will - Thanks for those detail updates. I was a bit of a zombie at midnight, but the spell has worn off and I'm back to my warm blood pumpin' self.

Going to shower now (for the sake of everybody at NAB) and back to the floor.

Thanks for the good job.

I had guessed at much of the issues that ODEMAX etc may be facing and understand them. That said Zero Dark Thirty says that torture works, so don't write off the thumbscrews yet. :P In reality charming a official watch this space, or coming soon, or even not dead yet out of one or both of RED/ODEMAX would be grand.

So Phil, if I'm reading you correctly, it sounds as though ODEMAX is coming with even more features than were announced originally? ITTC, then that's great news.

Phil -- this is great for the people not being able to attend... To sit and watch the effort you put into this has been incredible. I don't think people quite appreciate how much of your spare time goes into your passion for RED. Rock on Sir... More NAB today...

PS -- your pictures came out better than my iPhone ... I wonder why ... :0)

Thanks Phil. Stoked you are doing this thread. If you happen to stop in on any new LED offerings and could find the time to post a couple of words I'd be very grateful.

Best Wishes

Thanks for the very nicely written summary, Phil. Very informative. Enjoyed the personal excitement.

Almost feel like I am there. Love to hear your thoughts on the Blackmagic's Production Camera 4K and Adobe. I realize that the new Blackmagic has nothing on Red, but as a second camera it's got to be better than my HD cams.

Thanks Phil...I will share this.
Nice Report.
Cheers
