Up 'til now, we have said what we are "going to do".

As of now, that has changed (we promised that everything is subject to change... including our strategy).

We will only announce new things when they are done and ready to ship. That includes Scarlet and all other new products and accessories.

We used to go by "always late but worth the wait". That will no longer be the case because we won't telegraph what we are planning anymore. There will be no possibility of us being late. No more "we expect this to be done by..."

From now on it will only be "Here is is and we are ready to ship".

Right move and just in time. This will leave competition further behind.

This certainly makes sense. However, Jim, can you confirm that the EPIC-S is still a product in the making? I don't want the time of release or its status, but if its still a product we can look forward to...

Without further details, to recap our roadmap... we have previously stated that we are working on Scarlet, REDray and a 4K projector. We also have the Dragon and Monstro sensors in development. That is all the forward thinking we can confirm and acknowledge.

The next time you will hear about any of these is when they are ready to ship.

Jim

OK.

Good for you. This is exactly the lesson Steve Jobs learned at some point. It will serve RED well.

Yeah, but don't go dark on your partner companies - use NDAs. We're only just getting Thunderbolt peripherals on the horizon.

So the Epic-S is not part of the roadmap anymore... :(

Jim, does this mean that You guys no longer want to hear our feedback during the development stage? I though that this was one of the key elements of RED success...
Or it's just that now You already have Your "trusted inner circle" that will provide You with more then enough feedback and suggestions?

Dude - that sucks. But it is also totally understandable from a business point of view. Now - get back to making cool stuff :-)

Hopefully the lack of updates about whats coming will be replaced with many many frequent "Check this new bad boy out, order now" announcements hehe

You mean 1080P is NOT good enough? I am shocked!

If this were true... what happens to all those that bought a 1080P/2K Alexa? Just curious...

(Actually... I think you mean Sony)

Jim

That is a very wise decision, I just was just told by
BandPro that Arri is launching a 5K camera at IBC!
