  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Perfect SCARLET-X rig - buying advice

What about the inDiSystem Bulldog for shoulder rig?

I have never personally tried one, but what I have heard is that they are flimsy. I personally won't consider it an option.

I have included the Letus handheld rig that they just announced:

Yeah I checked their site a few hours ago and there is nothing in the new product section. Everyone was stating the estimates were December.
Hopefully they are still producing one. WC will be putting out there 19mm one any day now, but their 15mm is still 3 weeks approx away Ryan said. The Ikan adjusts height and laterally, so seemed like a raesonable option I thought...

Thanks Lliam,

I'm not in a huge rush on this, it's just something I'm trying to get a better understanding of. I know of the height difference, but am trying to configure a system which allows me to use a FF and Mattebox, using a quick release possibly but still trying to keep a relatively small package, which I'm finding to be difficult. I do like the Edelkrone system with the hotshoe adapter which would be great when I'm using Lav's and shotguns and other set ups but again I don't want to overbuy parts I won't necessarily use.

The less I can carry the better, I'm sure others in some scenarios feel the same way.. Something that would be almost perfect is making some kind of hotshoe adapter, or a mount similar to what the Sony EX1/EX3 used for Shotgun mics, that mounts on the DSMC system somewhere. Maybe it's a lone request, but alot of times with work I do I'll be using a shotgun mic. Just a thought.

Hey Jeffrey,

Yeah sounds like your coming from the same perspective I am and that many will be.
I've contacted quite a few companies asking if they have any plans for Scarlet rigs and or how suitable to config for Scarlet any of their current rigs would be.
Not too much interest expressed so far to be honest. We're obviously sitting in a bit of a niche market position currently with less than a thousand Scarlet users, and most Epic buyers tending to be in a different dollar sphere with some excellent options for those with more funds. To be fair, I think I can appreciate while people may not see it as worth bother trying to cater to our niche, especially either with all the new and improved DSLR's on the way. But it'd be bloody fantastic if a few people put out some balanced, Scarlet tailored rigs for less than 1K.

Personally, the thing I think is maybe being missed by some companies who have FS100, AF100 rigs etc... is that the Scarlet Epic form factor is going to be here for a good while. RED's anti obsolescence policy could surely be a real boon for guys who design and machine rigs only to watch them become redundant or greatly reduced in interest in the next two years. Whereas, Scarlet and Epic... you'd likely be selling more of your rigs in two years than you are now I'd say. Just my take on it anyhow.

Best

Lliam

We have tested the Allstar rig for one month now and we are very satisfied, it's worth every penny.

Just ordered the second one. Right now you get a special, I think there are still a few of them left.
