That was shot on RED One, not Epic.

My mistake.... 42 secs "..shot with the RED camera's new Epic Mysterium X sensor"
and... 1:56 "we did this with the prototype RED Epic MX sensor".

Cheeky buggers, they had me fooled! I should pay more attention :)

heh heh heh. yeah they played that one well. We did have a R1 MX with a prototype epic MX sensor along for the Vogue shoot as well.. :)

I just added a bunch of behind the scenes photos to the fist post in this thread.

On review of the BTS pics...

Tough gig. You probably wanted to get back to lizards, peacocks and tigers ASAP.

You sure seem to suffer for your art.

:001_tt1: Yow! :ihih:

I laugh when I see the client's all wearing Vogue shirts and overcoats. Yes we know your vogue.

Glad you could find a reason to shoot Epic X:)

What kind of lighting conditions were you in?

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Terry, I have seen about 3 posts from you saying that Tattoo started long ago.

However on July 6, 2010 (i.e. long AFTER your date of May 31), Jim said:
"Tattoo cameras will go out as soon as we have a stable platform with a standard set of features…"

Again on July 26, 2010 Jim said:
"We are very, very close to releasing Tattoo."

On August 7, 2010 Jim was still referring to Tattoos in the future tense:
"Tattoos will not have all features enabled... "
"The battle testing that Tattoo cameras will get in the most demanding situations will help all EPIC customers."

Has there been any **official** update from Jim or Jarred since then ?

Please stop spreading misinformation. Although we would all *like* it to be true, it just confuses matters.

It is obvious now that there are a handful of Epics in the field shooting real work under very restricted conditions. Have the finished pre-production Tattoos been delivered to owners? Obviously not. Is the field testing and development program that is part of the Tattoo process underway? Seems obvious that it is.

Well, it is a pretty overwhelming pic in terms of awesomeness in one frame. :p

Believe what you want to believe. It won't change reality for either of us. But I was not "spreading misinformation" since I was posting an actual, direct quote from Jarred. Since then, he has not retracted or corrected his comment. The quotes you found also provide information, but are no more or less "accurate" than the one I posted. To me, Jarred's statement is pretty definitive. I guess it is all a matter of what the Tattoo program really has ended up being.

I will suggest this: I sincerely doubt that there will be some sort of announcement in the future that "Tattoo will begin next Monday." I am going to guess that the next "major" announcement related to timing for Epic will involve the start of Stage 2. Maybe I'll be wrong, but I sure as hell am not going to sit around grumping about the delays and how slow RED has been and how it will never come and it's all just a big scam.

I think what is crazy about this whole discussion about timing is that there are so many people who just want to rain on the parade - for no apparent reason. "We won't see Epic until NAB 2012." or "We'll never see Scarlet." Blah blah blah. They are not saying these things based on any facts, just a desire to be grumpy and complain. And there re people who are griping because they say they need more information so they can plan for their businesses. Only a fool would plan on a product that hasn't even gotten close enough to have a believable release date. Even then, you always have a plan B because things go wrong.

In the end, it doesn't matter whether Tattoo has started, not started, in the middle or at the end. When the camera is ready to ship, it will ship. Personally, I like to think that the program that is underway right now - several Epic prototypes in the field, being tested and debugged, is doing the work of the Tattoo program. You can call it what you want. It doesn't change anything.

I am sure you and a few other people will be glad to hear that I am simply going to bow out of this whole timing discussion. Talk about... :beatdeadhorse5:
