Hi Nils,

The new D-Tap/P-Tap cables are indeed available now - and if your reseller does not have them then please let me know and we will be sure our distribution gets them to them.

As for Multicast - We have it. It's functioning in the lab.

We are working on behind the curtain Logistics in order to allow all existing users the OPTION to go Multicast in a very fair very incentivized manner - and we will be continuing to offer 1:1 and 1:Many systems concurrently at the same time.

It is important for us to nail all the logistics of handling for an upgrade program before we formally announce it publically so there is no confusion and no one who wants to upgrade will miss out.

PARALINX is dedicated to leaving no one behind and offering the best in terms of product and customer service.

Best,

Dan
Great to hear about the multicast. Can't wait to hear more about it.
I contacted CVP about the cable and shield, I'll let you know if they don't have them.
Thanks !

Hi Guys,

the receiver will work with 5 v 1A, but max range is achieved with 5v 2A.

our REGULATOR and USBtap cables both provide up to 2.2a of power, so can charge an iPad or other tablet or cell phone and run our Tx or Rx.

USBtap is pictured in my video above, REGULATOR I can post pictures of later today.

same functionality - different styling.

for a 5V battery I recommend the Lenmar Powerport 6600 or the Hot Rod Cameras Powerbank. Both are under $50/ea and should run for half a day on either side.

will post links when I'm not on the Run.

Best ,

dan

Dan,
would you please clarify on the differences between the Paralinx and this unit ?

They look exactly the same from what I can see. Specs are similar too, except the range which says 160 ft where you advertise 300 ft LOS. Looks like they are definitely related in some way.
It isn't mutli-cast apparently. But you could buy 4 of them for the price of 1 paralinx arrow.

Thanks :)

Hi Nils,

I'm glad you asked.

When we first started making the Arrow we were working with a factory in China. Sadly we were unable to secure that they would not sell the same plastic case moulds to other customers. We were however Able to work with Amimon - an amazing Chip design company to secure the rights to use professional grade chips that offer:

-Dynamic Frequency Selection (ability to auto detect and synchronize between multiple units)
-Longer Range
-More Antennas - if you open ours and theirs you will see this.
-Higher picture Quality (fatter bandwidth better error detection/correction) particularly obvious in shadow and mids
-Better heat dissipation/ tolerances
-Expanded Frequency Bands 2 and 3 - better function, more range, less interference
-Expandable Software feature set (can't elaborate yet)

Now, I understand some people might think "it looks the same, it is the same" - that is far from the truth.

An Intel Celeron and an Intel i7 can have the same physical form but one is 5x better and 5x the price
A four cylinder Mustang and a GT 5.0 are completely different performers.
Look at an Nvidia Quadro vs a GT280.

Besides professional features and better silicon, the other big difference is support. We make a product for camera use.

There are other professional companies trying to enter our market with a module that looks exactly the same as ours, and another where the outside and interfaces are completely different but the modules inside are exactly like ours.

Both of these other options are more expensive than ours.

One of our big goals was to offer a professional grade product at an affordable price.

if you can believe this our manufacturing cost per unit is more than double the retail price of the consumer imitator.

Hopefully you can see why this was such a challenging business to start, how passionate PARALINX is about our product, and the advantages of a product with a professional chipset instead of a lesser knock-off.

There are a lot of great things coming to people who bought our product and continue to support us.

there is no reason for me to give free advertising for our competitors also using the pro chipset, or the consumer grade knockoffs - but we do appreciate the question and interest.

best,

Is there any plan to offer a cable/adapter/something that would allow for more splitting of the dtap port? I have a TVLogic monitor that's normally on my Epic which uses d-tap. That's no problem except I added the Paralinx. When I use my batteries that have a dtap on it, it's not a problem. However, I had some RED bricks which don't have the dtap on it. I know there is an AB solution which provides 4 ports, but that's $80-which seems high for what it is, and it's actually quite big. Just wondering if you all were thinking about a solution?

Received my Paralinx Arrow last week and tried it out - Everything looks great although I have got some kind of small glitching going on, as if the image jumps slightly sideways at random intervals every few seconds???

Anyone else got this? I'll be testing it in other locations soon to try and rule out interference.

Hi Ben,

shoot me an email at dan@paralinx.net.

Sounds like a monitor timing issue - what monitor are using, and what Red firmware version?

try changing your hdmi output timing (depending on your region and red firmware version)

Lets be in touch and work this out together.

best,

Dan

I got my Paralinx Arrow today from Hot Rod Cameras.

same problem here with a SmallHD DP6 :-(
small glitching, as if the image jumps slightly sideways at random intervals every few seconds

Hi Ben, Berenger, Michael,

I have put together a list of troubleshooting steps - Michael thank you for the email - please feel free to continue emailing me at dan@paralinx.net and I will do my best to get everything straightened out for you.

1. What monitor are you using? Does it exhibit the picture jump when running an HDMI cable directly to it from your Epic/Scarlet
2. What firmware Revision are you using on your Epic/Scarlet? We recommend the Latest version 3.3.14.
3. What is your HDMI refresh frequency set to on the Epic? 24/25/50/60hz? It may be region related.
4. Do you have other HDMI cables that you can test on the monitor side and on the camera side? Does this affect your results?
5. Do you have another HDMI source you can test with your transmitter (laptop,blu-ray,red-Ray, Alternate camera)

5. How is your Receiver Being Powered? The SmallHD DP6 has a 500ma USB port and is not recommended for powering the receiver, although some people have reported good results our receiver draws 2A to get optimal range and performance.

Problem solved: Set Scarlet HDMI output to 1080 60hz - 50hz produces the horizontal shifting.

Hope this works for all of you!

Here is a "pimped" version of the Paralinx. I sent my unit to magician David Hable at http://www.crampedattic.com and told him to take the HDMI connector off the stick and replace it with a cable. This is what he achieved , now I feel much more confident about not breaking that connector off the sender . The new cable is literally glued/soldiered to the sender . And I have kept the SHIELD (not shown) since it gives me fabulous mounting options on the camera.
