PARALINX ARROW - Wireless Uncompressed HD Transmitter System. Ships June 15th 2012

Used the Paralinx Arrow last week on a 4 day TVC. Range for clean image was maybe 40', usable out to maybe 80' and then spotty after that.

Would love to have some way of enhancing the antenna on the RX end when more range is needed.

Don't get me wrong, for the size and price point its decent, just not strong enough for most of the situations I'd want to use it in.

Blair - maybe something was wrong with the unit you were using? Not enough power to the transmitter or receiver?

transmitter or receiver not placed in optimal position?

DFS band 2 and 3 enabled?

We regularly get 320' line of sight.

The Transmitter requires 5V at 1amps
The Receiver requires 5v at 2amps

For RMA details please email me at dan AT paralinx.net

If you would like to send the one you were using to me I can evaluate it and make sure that there is nothing wrong with your unit.

If anyone is looking to order one - please contact Any of our resellers like Hot Rod Cameras:

Best,

Dan

If anyone is interested i have it for sale, like new after 30 minutes of testing in box with all accessories. PM for details, please.

I have ordered mine form hotrodcameras. Was hoping to get a bit more than 320ft(90m) range at line of sight but while testing it lost connection exactly at 100 meters.

Picture quality was very nice on 7" LCD monitor and it did hold like that alomost to the point of range limit. Very good quality product with nice soft rubber-like finish, lightweight and does what it suppose to do nicely.

One thing i noticed it did not crop my Scarlet-X screen like my LCD does when connected directly to HDMI out. Pretty nice.

Update on the low range issues: as soon as we enabled a different transmission band we got at least 5 times the range and a better picture.

The low power band is useless and while legalities might constrain the manufacturer from saying so directly, changing to one of the other bands is the first thing one should do - we found out the hard way.

Cheers - #19

Glad the Range issue was just too much interference the area you were working in Blair!

Just to clarify - DFS Band 2 and 3 are 100% Legal in the USA - we ship with them set to off by default because we ship to various regions around the world and we leave it at the discretion of the user in those nations.

Best,

Dan

an, I asked questions about this on the Paralinx Facebook page and via email and got no reply at all. Where can I find info on best practices? I too had a bad experience with range. It does seem better with bands 2&3 turned on, but I feel a bit like I'm flying blind.

Hi All,

I just wrapped my recent feature and used the Paralinx arrow system every single day on set. It performed wonderfully and has quickly become one of my most prized accessories for shooting. We had a lot of fast paced shooting including me shooting from on top of ladders, scissor lifts, and several rooms away in various locations/buildings (non line-of-sight). The ability to do this without running monitor cable was beyond a life saver. The Paralinx system is more than worth the cost of the product - it's an absolute steal! Many thanks to Dan and Paralinx for creating this product.

I really love my arrow. It does what it should in full hd mode. Works flawless with epic. But in PAL mode 625/50 interlaced from HVX201 (480i ntsc all fine) I have some sync errors (3-4 times turn on/off till steady connection, otherwise the image jitters) and some wired alien sound if sound is transmitted. Any ideas? Firmware problem or unit? Dan?

Hi Dominik - I will see about sending some 625/50i through it with a test pattern generator - I don't have any PAL equipment here in the lab. this may sound crazy - but have you connected your monitor to the camera directly to see if it does the same thing?

Thanks for the nice review Mitch!

Best,

Dan

Hi Dan,
any news on the november announcements regarding the multi-cast features ? ;)
Also I think you were talking about new improved D-Tap power cables, are those available yet ?

Thanks !

Hi Nils,

The new D-Tap/P-Tap cables are indeed available now - and if your reseller does not have them then please let me know and we will be sure our distribution gets them to them.

As for Multicast - We have it. It's functioning in the lab.

We are working on behind the curtain Logistics in order to allow all existing users the OPTION to go Multicast in a very fair very incentivized manner - and we will be continuing to offer 1:1 and 1:Many systems concurrently at the same time.

It is important for us to nail all the logistics of handling for an upgrade program before we formally announce it publically so there is no confusion and no one who wants to upgrade will miss out.

PARALINX is dedicated to leaving no one behind and offering the best in terms of product and customer service.

Best,

Dan
