  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

On another note, can someone tell me what's "better"?

the Panasonic 17 or 26" BT-LW1700/2600W HD LCD or the JVC DT-V20L1DU 20" HD LCD?

The Panny's are 768p whereas the JVC is 954p...I know there's a lot more involved with this but I can get both at a good price. I can get the 17" Panny for $1800 as well as the JVC 20". I can get the Panny 26" for maybe $1200-1500 because it has 3 little dead pixels on the left side of the screen.

Does the JVC appear to be sharper with it's higher resolution? The only downside is that there is no waveform on this LCD.

Any advice appreciated!

Panasonic 17'' monitors are great, I use them all the time. E-Cinema also makes great monitors.
 
I have seen the 20 inch and the image is really beautiful. It does not run on A/C but the 17" one does.

The 2600 sounds like an excellent deal. They retail for over $4000 new.

Even with the little dead pixels you think it's a good deal? They don't seem very noticeable and are on the left centre of the screen. Little black specs...

Dead pixels are not a big issue for me. If they were stuck on white that would be a different deal, that gets annoying when working on dark images, but even then you forget about them.

My humble opinion would be to jump on it for the price if the main purpose is for on set monitoring. Otherwise the JVC sounds like a better way to go for 1080 post.
 
The new Panasonic 2550 is fan-freakin'-tastic. A beautiful 1080p monitor.

I've always preferred the Panasonics to the JVCs.
 
The casing is different but very close in size. Your custom stuff will probably fit or need very slight adjustment to do so.

By the way, Panasonic also cut out a huge amount of weight with the 2550. It weighs just a tiny bit more than the 1700.
 
Price breaks eh? I'm about to pull the trigger on the JVC 20" for $1700 USD for a new demo unit...

You guys think it's worth it or...wait for these price breaks that maybe coming out shortly after NAB? :) I doubt the pricebreak will reach to that kind of level above but are we looking at $2500+ for the new Panny 2550?
